@Chris oh I agree, but like you say, Schmidt clearly sees what others have before him, so hopefully he can help push his buttons.

It is quite amazing how a different voice saying the same things, but from a different angle can suddenly hit home for some.

No doubt new voices have big impact if they are the right voices.

I am hoping to see more of that in the RC.

🗞 UPDATE | The following players will not assemble in Christchurch...

Brodie Retallick: Is available to return to play with Hawke’s Bay in the Bunnings NPC, this weekend.

Jack Goodhue: After taking the field for Northland in the Bunnings NPC, his knee has not improved as hoped. He will undergo surgery.

Nepo Laulala and Ofa Tu’ungafasi: Both have recovered from injury and will remain with Counties Manukau and Northland, respectively.

Patrick Tuipulotu: Suffered a neck injury at training during the second week of the South African tour. He will remain in Auckland for treatment and will continue to be monitored.

Fletcher Newell, Tyrel Lomax, Josh Dickson and Braydon Ennor will remain with the squad.

So many people's midfield great white hope is out, foster needs to pick and stick until the RWC

Sadly Ennor is still there to make up numbers though.

Interesting that Schmidt has taken over his Selectors role and a role in the attack, Ennor is retained.

To be honest though, who else is there?
I think Ennor is there as a stopgap but if they think they can stop his tits for hands and slow decision making because of his physical attributes then good for him.
I cant see selectors going deeper outside the squad in an area they are trying to cement anyway with a near cert like ALB still to return.
If there's one player I cant see a reason to retain in the squad except coaching it is RTS.

Probably not a lot unless you give TUJ OR B Sullivan a crack.

For Me Ennor and RTS should be playing NPC to develop.
It seems like 35 in the squad is a bit over kill,Especially when we are playing at Home 3/4 games.

Yep. No reason to give TUJ and BS a go. They may get their chance in the AB XV.
Altough BS had a chance to show worth against Ireland and botched it.

That AB XV is going to be very interesting,To see where the coaches are heading with the future.

Will it be mixture of youth and experience or all young players.

I can't actually see the point of selecting him in the first place except for promotion.
He was always going to be third choice behind Havili and Tupaea and doesn't have enough union experience to convert him to covering 13 (like they have QT).
He was basically there as a hail mary option that didn't get used.

So much of the eventual gameplan revolved around Havili playing well, they had to persevere.

So maybe I'm wrong about Ofa and Laulala.
Still think he is kind of pleased to have a good excuse to test the others a bit further though.

'I am available to play for the Wallabies' - Former All-Black Kerr-Barlow eyes up shock switch

Kerr-Barlow, who was born in Melbourne, last represented New Zealand in 2017.

Is this one of those situations where the IQ of both countries goes up?

He’s still a good player. Don’t think he’d be in the ABs on merit though. Good luck to him. Maybe he’s looking to live in Oz and is feathering the bed before moving into coaching?

I wonder about Schmidt as the article says our attack was toothless and we ran out of ideas and Options very quickly.

    5th as of today.
6th - if we lose to Argies again.
7th - if we then lose to Aussies.
