No way he will do the honourable thing. His selection of hookers and reasoning for it tells you everything you need to know about his thought process and respectability.

If we lose this week he'll be gone.
The smart move by the Boks will be to throw this game.
If that was the case, it would be interesting to see who was tapped on the shoulder to step up in the interim.
Surely even NZR wouldn't be contemplating it without speaking to some prospective candidates. And there's a distinct lack of whispers being leaked.

Schmidt has stayed behind in NZ. If they need an interim coach he is already there, and NZ play two back to back games in NZ against Argentina, so Schmidt doesn't have to travel.
But that sounds far too organised for the NZRU đ

I am leaning toward the sauce being correct at this stage.
I think Foster is gone even if somehow they win at Ellis Park.
Joe Schmidt as new coach with Razor, MacDonald and Ryan as assistants. That would either be an extraordinary coaching team or too many egos in the room to work.

Also Joe doesn't want to travel anymore. But that group would be exciting. Joe as the guy with test team experience overseeing it all, Razor as the alpha dog ready to assume the reins in the near future

Not totally sure that is true as of now. May have been b4.

@Frank That sounds too good to be true.
Agreed. Why would Razor agree to being someone else's assistant when that wasn't acceptable previously?
-
@antipodean cos it was Fozzie and he could see what most could too?
But otherwise agree.

Because he's been given assurance that he'll be taking full control after RWC 2023? Agreed, it is v doubtful he'll be an assistant. Unless Schmidt is installed as hands-on DoR and Razor is head coach.

@Crucial said in Will Foster go?:
I think he will walk. Wonât happen today, it needs to be planned with assistants as heâs basically doing them out of a job as well.
Also requires his employer to get replacements organized.
If this happens it has to be Razor unless it is clear that Schmidt only wants the job short term. Otherwise Razor goes and another country gets to lift their game enough to beat us. Our exports are killing us.Seems that Schmidt won't travel? Or have you a better sauce?
Edit: oh snap.
I haven't seen any evidence that Razor wants the job right now? -

Joe Schmidt as new coach with Razor, MacDonald and Ryan as assistants. You're not a journo, so reveal your sauce and we will judge if it's worth leaning towards

A good journo never reveals their sauces!!

I donât see him going unless pushed. He is still in the delusion of âwe are making progress, just needs a few minor tweaksâ. No one is buying it any more.

But they did make progress. Only thing is, their starting point was so low after the Irish series.
So technically, he's right

No they didn't, they actually had some (2) good quarters versus Irish. Foster's extra shit attack cancels out the improvement Ryan has made in mauls, lineout. So, overall, No improvement

I'd say the defence was better against the Boks. Then again, the Bok attack seems to have 3 plays - maul, run direct repeatedly until the defence runs out of numbers and high kicks. The Bok defence could be construed as an attacking option as it forces mistakes and broken field opportunities.
And before the Bok posters start raging, I'm not having a pop at the Boks. They play their way and are happy to do so. Rugby is a contrast in styles and the Boks have their specific style. However, the Bok approach leaves them susceptible to teams that take a risk and the bounce of the ball favours them on the day, e.g. England in November.
Which is why it will be fascinating to see how the complicated/varied Irish attack goes against this Bok defence in November.,And how the French go against the Boks in November too.
