would that be a NZ rceord for the most hyphenated last names?
That's Waratahs-esque
What is the protocol when two hyphenated people get married and want to hyphenate their last names?

@Dan54 when you have 12 Carry’s over a whole tri nations for 12 metres doesn’t exactly means he’s excelling at his job does it. (Reuben Thorne FYI)
I thought he was a better 6 than many gave him credit for, he was not a great player, but he was better trhan a lot of internet warriors gave him credit for.
But anyway that was then this is now. -
Good backline but I still cringe when I see Prinsep on the team sheet. Hopefully Howden gets plenty of minutes off the pine.

Surely they have a better option than Prinsep? Solid and probably good at NPC level but seems a little lightweight in Super Rugby in both his contribution and stature/impact. Howden looks promising albeit raw. Maybe they can try and lure Plumtree?

@TheMojoman
When you are a blindside, you are not fool enough to sign for the Canes as you may know that Holland will, week after week, give Prinsep the 6 jersey. -
@TheMojoman Plumtree would be great.
Flanders & Iose if not injured would be better options too.
I'd 100% have Howden there given who's fit at the moment.
-
@Canes4life Not your fault, but certainly your problem.

Almost.
The Highlanders used six against the Blues: Manaaki Selby-Rickit, Marino Mikaele-Tu'u, Thomas Umaga-Jensen, Liam Coombes-Fabling, Connor Garden-Bachop and Daniel Lienert-Brown.

I liked the look of Howden for Manawatu last year, and he seems like he still going alright next level up with admittedly only limited minutes so far.

I think if he gives it time PUJ & Sullivan midfield with Jordie at fullback is the best use of those 3 players.
Those 3 players definitely add the most value to the team in those positions... but when we have a knob of coach that doesn't settle on our best combos & continues to give a plodder at a lot of starts at 6 we're not going to perform at our best as a unit this year.

Anyone else disappointed in the progress of Flanders? Absolute star in age grade but has failed to progress as far as I was hoping. Sure it may be lack of opportunities, but it is almost a chicken and egg scenario. One thing I have noticed about Flanders is his propensity to go down with cramp during the late stages of a game. Maybe he has body issues holding him back?
-
@Crazy-Horse I'm convinced he's a starter in that Canes squad and only by playing can he get the experience necessary to improve. While the current coaching staff are employed, he'll have his progression and development hampered.
-
@Crazy-Horse I think he's being limited by Holland and Co. When loosies come through the ranks I reckon they need to be run into the ground a few times. Get a feel of the fitness level required at this level. However, Flanders doesn't get consistent minutes so starts to lack any real impact after 40-45mins of Super rugby, then starts cramping after about 60 minutes. Right now he's an impact player and will stay that way until a coach chances their arm with him. Doesn't help that the best 7 in the squad plays at number 8 either.
I think it's a bit of an issue right now at the Canes. There are a few younger players who look to have a higher ceiling than some of the old hands but aren't being given a decent shot because the coach needs to try and produce results straight away - or limit losses. But you need a coach who's willing to suck up a few big losses (maybe like the Chiefs did the other year) but in a year or two you may be in a better position. PUJ is potentially a lot better than Proctor but at the moment Proctor is a safer player. So rather than coaching PUJ to be better he'll just keep giving Proctor the game time (though not this week). Same with TKH, Flanders etc.
