Hurricanes v Reds

@mariner4life The level of NZ franchise rugby is arguably the highest globably so to suggest that it's curtains for this competition just because the Australian teams can't quite make the grade is a little dramatic.
Aussie rugby have had these issues for years and yet here we are. It's up to them to rise to the challenge and find ways of improving so they can match it with New Zealand sides on a regular basis.

> The pick of the Melbourne roundLast year the Reds defence screwed up badly against the Highlanders and Crusaders early in SRTT. I think they’ll be more competitive this year
I agree the Canes selections have been confusing. But I don’t think their form is bad as some have claimed
So is this a Canes home game. Or who gets the home game as I assume it should be three home and three away

Exactly, it's up to the Aussie sides to work hard to improve their overall standards.

Because if the best team in Aus can't beat the 4th best team in NZ (who aren't exactly playing well)
Then this comp as a sporting contest is a joke and almost completely worthless. Viewers on both sides of the Ta$man will shut off in droves if this turns out to be as one sided as last year.
Only trouble with that argument Mariner is the 3 botom teams from Aus can't beat the top 2, so doesn't that make alternative comp a joke?

@mariner4life it's not our problem that Aussie teams are lacking behind, that's their issue.
I won't be surprised at all if no Aussie team qualifies for the semi finals.
I will be real surprised if that happens, and can see an Aus team making final if things go right.
As a Cane's man I worry about us against both Reds and Brumbies and can see Tahs maybe getting a few wins. -

Sorry, just reading back to find where i said it's anyone's fault
If ypur prediction co.es true say goodbye to Super Rugby
And probably NZ rugby as we know it as well
I not sure why you think it will be end of NZ rugby and not Aus rugby.
I agree Aus teams need to win, and covid has made it harder again, as a diet of Aus derbies is not maybe the best prep where as a mixture of games is better. I will say it maybe also be countered a bit by kiwi teams knocking each other around so much , and more importantly, I think mentally the kiwi teams seem to switch off a little in early part of TT. -

Won’t let me post but there’s a tweet from Ollie Ritchie from Newshub saying Aumua has been given a 3 week ban for his hit on Evans.
Here you go, along with details of the suspensions for Barrett and Dickson.

I'm kind of worried that we rate ourselves (NZ teams) so highly and Aus teams so low.
But I've said that before and results continue to be one sided.
Me and you both boo, I not sure the Aussie teams are bad as some of us think, especially Reds and Brumbies.
-
@taniwharugby said in Hurricanes v Reds:
@booboo does it really matter what we think?
As long as the teams and players are preparing as they would any match, then what we think is irrelevant...or are you saying they read TSF and take on board everything we say
Nah. Just don't the way us fans talk down others.
It may be right, but I find it unedifying.
-
@Canes4life If he shines still won’t get a contract for next year.

Tahs are also much improved on last year. Tahs scored plenty of points last year vs Kiwi teams they just couldn't defend. Their defence this year is much better.
