@african-monkey I would think Braid was well down the list of guys who we needed more from. There were a couple of years where he was our best forward.

Imagine being stupid enough to base an AB forward pack on the Crusaders rub of the green all stars.

    Absolutely baffling.

    Shit for four years counting.

Thoughts on Mo'unga and his defensive effort for the Chiefs' first try...?

    I blame the Coach.

You forgot to mention that he's fat

He's been on a diet - that and all the break-dancing has worked miracles.

Jesus Christ, now they are on Tupaea who had 4 - yes that’s the same number of tackles he made - missed tackles in the game.

@gt12 And this is part of the reason why nothing changes in this country. Our media just grease up to anybody and refuse to criticise anyone or anything about our game.

Its just one big boys club.

the analysis is just absolute pants. It's frankly embarrassing - I have read match reports and thought 'were they at the same game I was?'

It's a circular argument of non-criticism; someone picks someone, therefore they are good.

Edit: I would pay to see people like Sir Graham and out-of-contract coaches (Schmidt before Blues/ABs) talking sensible tactics. Pay professionals to actually analyse for the rugby nerds. It wouldn't rate, so instead we get the 'colour' commentators gossiping and throwing out their deep analysis like 'they'll want to win this game'

Frankly, the biggest surprise was someone watched the Breakdown! I gave up ages ago, it was just fluff

Wilson's comments about Tupaea and ALB were related to just taking the ball into contact like extra loose forwards. Nothing fancy, just playing their part to recycle the ball. I usually don't bother with this show, but ended up watching most of it on Sunday night. The fact that O'Keeffe was a guest and they didn't question him about his big mistakes in the Blues-Highlanders game was disappointing, but not surprising.

I watched the last 20 mins of this game again, and Ah Kuoi not passing to an unmarked Nankivell was a shocker. Nankivell had a really strong game in the unfamiliar wing position.

@nzzp As sad as it sounds, you get more insight on this silly site, They add nothing more than what your average Joe would say, apart from the lack of criticism part.

One 'miss' on RTS would have troubled God!

The Crusaders cant get Goodhue back quick enough, just his defensive nous will improve them no end.

Although defense was not really an issue until the last 5 minutes was it

Funny thing is that I don't really recall them. Seems a very high stat so I wonder about the criteria being used.
Not saying that it isn't correct but something seems fishy.
A midfielder missing half their tackles would be an instant inroad target for the opposition.
I recall Havili making a break that could be one.
Tackle stats at the moment are being counted very high in areas and I wonder whether assists are being counted as made/missed.
We are seeing multiple players with tackle counts in the 20s yet 15 used to be a high number (and for few players)

Fair enough. I just started looking through the recording. About 3:30 in Mounga slips through him but he actually did well to even get a touch. A bobbled ball had created 5 Crusaders running at a space covered only by Cane. 4 of them dragged him in then Mounga ran at the hole where Cane would have been. Tupaea moves across and reaches out clipping his leg enough tomake him stumble.

I'm not saying he wasn't at fault but it does show that sometimes a stat doesn't tell the story. That was never his tackle to make but by nearly making it he gets a black mark.

Just to clarify I noticed it during the Blues game and looked the stats up after that match

QT had a pretty good debut year at AB level. However he did have one issue.. he fell off a lot of tackles he should've made. He needs to tighten his defence up

    Absolutely this.

I'm a fan of his and I'm really happy that one of the youngsters we signed from that period, has turned out to be AB level.

However, that is a big work on if he wants to cement his position as an AB - Goodhue will at some point be back and he'll be under huge pressures from Goodhue (and RTS).

Ennor will surely loose his spot to FABLF.
