Shows like this can actually be a life saver for some guys i reckon. I follow Piri on insta and he's doing work! But he also blew up pretty huge 😬

Did he what ? Shocking for a guy not yet 40.

Cracked me up when he asked if the machine had been calibrated right though haha.

Weepu looked like he didn't move from the couch after the 2011 final. Such a shame because he could have been one of the greats if he could have stayed away from the bakery.

Second best on the list of halfback/first-fives isn't bad for a league kid from Wainui!

John Preston number one right ♥️

Who else ? the Postman always delivered.

Should have played a lot more tests.
Talking about postmen, Craig Innes was an actual postman.

And JK was an actual butcher's assistant. Those were the days

Reds and Wallaby prop Dan Crowley didn't have his picture in game programs because he was an undercover cop at the time.

When I started collecting league cards they all had an occupation listed. I even recall Mick Hancock missing a game because of work commitments. Those were the days indeed.

Apparently his book is a fantastic read. I bet he has some great yarns.

Watched Matchfit last night too. Really enjoyed it and so did my son. Its gonna be interesting to see how these guys go.

Yeah the difference between Flavell and Cribb was a real eye opening. See Flavell a bit as he does pilates at one of the wifes studios but Cribb obviously hasnt been doing much other than taking it easy after all those injuries and operations

From the promos, it sounds like Cribb has had a pretty tough time of it - was living in his car for a while (I was only half watching and wondering who he was) - though that story is presumably going to be told in the later episodes.

What about Ian Stevens - Petone, Wellington and the All Blacks?

    Before my time unfortunately.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Stack Stevens a sort of albino Piri with a pudding bowl haircut from memory

edit - Right guy Wrong Nickname Nectar Stevens http://stats.allblacks.com/asp/Profile.asp?ABID=839

Stack was an Pommy prop who played against the AB side Nectar toured with in 72. Part of the England side that won at EP in 73

He helped out in his Dad's shop in Onehunga. They were part of a chain of stores that my old man used to work for from memory - he knew them both anyway.

Butchery in the @Snowy DNA. Who'd have thought.

Well he was an accountant, but at least in the right industry.

Didn't many of the players in the day run behind the garbage truck picking up rubbish to keep fit. Probably smoking a pack at the same time.

Keith Lowen, and Messam often worked on his truck. That's his brother Sam with him on Boxing Day 2013.

Another good episode, by christ the nutritionist chick was uninspiring. I'd listen to her speech and wanna go for some greasy takeaways right away. Piri Weepu told the camera he was a big fan of burgers. This is a surprise to no one.

Frank Bunce has a newborn at 58 ?!?!?! fuck that for a joke !!! he also has a 34 year old who is a good touch player.

Every single ex player comes across as such a good bloke, none more so than Eroni Clarke. I struggle to believe he was ever capable of the kind of physicality and aggression he showed all those years ago judging from his demeanor. Poor old Ron Cribb got some bad news though #spoilers.....

First episode I’ve watched, great seeing those guys again.
Have to say I had no idea who Ron Cribb was until his name came up on screen. Everyone else is easily recognisable just not Cribby. Hard to see him ruled out due to his neck.

Funny seeing the ‘older’ guys in their 40s and 50’s in better shape then Piri..

Flavell and Alatini are probably the best but Rush, Dowd and Bunce still look in good nick especially for their advanced years.

    Others much less so.

Great first episode, not just the funny stuff but these guys, who many of us consider heroes, to be confronting mental issues, personal issues, and a general lack of self care as they age. All themes we can associate with
