So I can’t judge how we are tracking under Foster with what we are playing against.
That doesn't make any sense at all. If we were losing horribly would you say the same? If no new talent was being blooded would you say the same? It'll be a pretty funny stance to reflect on if Aus manage to beat those teams when they next play.
That’s a big If

I think I am mostly with Bones and Booboo here in general I would say
- Fozzie is probably not most peoples first choice but he is the coach now , I think its only fair to give him a chance.
- Fat jokes are pretty old.
- Not much point in comparing ABs to SA or England when we have no clue what they will be like, better to concentrate on whats in front of us for now.
- I'll take the record so far but obviously 4 tests to go to judge the year.
- I'll take the selections so far, plenty of debate but no disasters and has blooded 5 new ABs in the first 2 games. Selections have been pretty close to what I would have selected.
I didn't even know that was the stance I was taking, but sounds about right Thanks.
I meant to say you were making far more sense and this is my stance, but if you mostly agree thats all good too :).

All fine that you don’t have confidence in Foster but pumping up the Boks and Poms when they aren’t playing any test rugby and they are going through transitions themselves, is a little presumptive
I don’t think so You only have to look at last year that was not that far ago.And where SA and England can be again I don’t see we have progressed much from the end of Hansen’s area looks kind of the same to me.
I am looking forward to 2023 are you saying SA and England will be shit then not as shit as we might be if we don’t change the coach
How many tests have they won in 2020? Who are their shining lights as players in 2020?
England have won 3 x as many games as nz this year .

Lost to England in our biggest game in the 4 years
Lost to SA in 2018 and Ireland
And SA won the WC
again struggled against teams with decent rush defence patterns
We are not evolving as I see it
Show me where we are .not selections anyone can pick players
Looks the like we are playing the same way as the last 2 years.
So you believe other teams will just roll over because we are playing the same , you are in for a rude shock over the next 4 years. -

So you believe other teams will just roll over because we are playing the same , you are in for a rude shock over the next 4 years.Your basic point is right. We are great front runners, and struggle when matched up front by teams that don't play much.
With little no counter attack opportunities we get strangled.
Over the past few years that's been obvious, and I've seen little (other than Cane and Patrick upping their physicality), to show that we are ready for that when we do get to play those teams. It's not like England are going to change how they play in a year.
Don't get the "but it was last year" posts.

but laying that at Foster's feet is a touch disingenuous because we've been like that for a long, long time. Slow the ball, limit turnovers, kick the ball out have been the keys to beating us for ages. We have, for a long time, played a simple game that is holding the opposition, then punishing the fuck out of errors (mainly bad kicks).
We don't pick teams apart with clever ball movement. We don't roll teams in the tight in a field position game and accumulate points. We rely on ruthlessly exploiting the opportunities that come from opposition errors, and a defensive system that keeps the opposition to 20 points or less. That's AB rugby.

yes it does. It predates Ted as well.

I have fond memories of when NZ held SA to nil in Cape Town on 16 August 2008.

So I guess my point is the fix is long overdue? Wasn't Plumtree supposed to add "starch" to the forward pack to fix that?
That was the PR when he was appointed

I remember there was a bit of angst going into that match after the Boks beat us in Dunners a few weeks earlier.
But McCaw being back for this match gave us a bit of hope.
There was a bit of ‘outrage’ too going into the Dunners test - Rodders at openside, the Wulf selection, Sivi moved to the right wing, Ellis and O’Neill selections, Afoa starting.
