Fozzie is sticking to his guns and not panicking. He's also put our 2 best midfielders on the sheet
Does not compute....he's not panicking, he's just broken up the midfield after one go and dropped the guy that had the most impact, while blaming him for option taking. But "sticking to his guns" by playing them both out of position. Makes complete sense.
I reckon the panic is coming from the collective Fern! First game up and a draw and we are in complete meltdown mode. I reckon over the las 40 years or so the first up game of the year ABs have often underperformed. How about we see how they respond.

@DMX I agree, which is why I'm disappointed in the dropping of Roane. Before Clarke came on he was the biggest attacking threat. Why not persist with him and let him settle in so he can address deficiencies in defence? Even more so as if anyone has to atone for last week it's him.
I didn't necessarily agree with him starting at centre last week but now Foster has taken a bite and spat it out.

Absolutely fair points Bones. Personally I called for him to be dropped immediately after the game, I thought they should go with ALB and Goodhue for the first test and frankly I was relieved when Reiko was pulled. The defensive deficiencies , not linking with his outsides and throw in showboating for good measure he had to go IMHO. He should still have a chance to redeem himself off the bench. This team was almost what I picked For the 2nd test with the exception of Coles and Whitelock.
-
@DMX oh don't get me wrong, pretty sure I called for wholesale changes immediately after! I've been pounding the drum that the best bench is TJP, Beauden/Mounga, Roane.
Once the dust settled I felt if Foster is going down this path I'd like to see if his "plans" can come to fruition. If he's successful at least it might ease a lot of the widespread confusion.

Why are we persisting with Goodhue at 12 and Jordie at 14? Fucking idiots.
Especially when ALB at 12 and Goodhue at 13 works and they're both on the bloody field.
Hopefully they switch positions as required. Goodhue at 12 might be to keep the Crusaders combo.
“ Foster says Lienert-Brown, Jack Goodhue will swap roles during the game”
Where'd you see that?

Part of me would love to see Roane and Clarke on wings. Jordie on bench. But think ABs like to have at least one 'aerial' fullback/winger (from BFA on).
Could even contemplate six two bench split with an extra loosie (Aoane?) added.
-
@pakman The odd thing is if having a tall winger is so important, why did I feel like the Aussie wingers were more likely to score? I would rather Reece/RIoane and Clarke then Bridge and JB. I almost feel like it is an insult to the modern day winger to think they don't know how to position themselves to catch a ball.

Jordie Barrett is not a long term 14 but there is/was the opportunity to play Will Jordan there.
Jordie Barrett is the form 15 in Super rugby, is experienced there, and is not played there.
Ardie Savea is not the long term 8 solution but he's played there.
Sotutu may well be the answer at 8 and he is not played there.
Shannon Frizell has not performed at anything more than passable levels for the ABs in all his outings and he is retained.
Akira Ioane has far more physicality and could be tried but he is not played.
Richie Mounga and Beauden Barrett should be dueling for the 10 with one on the bench.
Caleb Clarke wasn't even selected and then he tore it up and as soon as he came on. -

@Stargazer I hope he gets a shot, he definitely deserves it.

@Frank Will Jordan is a full back right? So he is our next FB/Winger? Why are we going down this road?
Because over the last 15 years we have looked most balanced in the backs when we have had a “power” 11 and a “fullback hybrid” 14 to counter the aerial bombardment
which completely derailed us in 2008/2009.Early on Sivi/Roks paired best with Howlett at 14. It never really worked with them both there.
Then Jane came along to fill the fullback/wing role with Savea eventually locking in the 11 jersey after guys like Gear never really stepped up and Guildford didn’t work.
After jane we had Smith and Dagg alternating paired with Savea and then NMS alternating with Dagg until they both dropped away.
Then Ioane taking the left wing role and Smith the right until Hansen shat the bed last year and decided Bridge was a power winger and a midget wife beater provided the best balance with him.We are lacking balance all through our team at the moment and IMO it’s one of our biggest problems.
Back row another prime example.
