@booboo Hanson was something like 79% over the last 3yrs I think

Hasen should really be viewed as the first cycle with McCaw/Carter/Smith/Nonu and the second cycle without. Much like Hart he was a 95% coach in the first half of his tenure and effectively sub 70% against tier one sides in the second stanza.

The percentage thing is pretty much a misnomer anyway unless you are comparing full cycle to full cycle the ~10% difference between Smith and Mitchell is that Smith had two 3N and one EOYT vs two EOYT, two 3N and a RWC.

And Aussie in one of their best ever cycles.

Those winning percentages remind me of why the "Time to unplug the Mains" headline was apt back in the 90's.

(Preemptive strike: for 1995 - Brian Lochore was back in the mix for the 1995 RWC campaign)

@Machpants Interesting the WC Review hasn't been completed so had no impact on Fosters appointment. Would be funny if the review points the finger at him not doing enough lol.

Can anyone recall an AB coach unwanted as universally as Foster? Deans/Wylie/Hart was all provincial bullshit, Mitchell was wasn't hated until well into the journey.

@Crazy-Horse I had corrected my post for accuracy. Usenet newsgroups were all the go then (e.g., r.s.r.u).

@taniwharugby definitely half empty. That way I can make myself feel better with a 'told you so' when I am right.

What a car crash that place turned into. To think that lunatic morrissey breen was probably responsible for its decline.

Can't wait for the meltdown when he announces Tana as an assistant.

2nd best tackle completion % and 5th on Tries conceded in Super 2019 as defence coach. Not too shabby.

Nothing wrong with boring if you're winning...

plenty moaned about rugby being boring a few years back...team picks itself, we win too much...

be interesting to see what changes they make to the playing 23

Change I want to see is more smarts on the field.

Too many games we could have won where we needed to slow down and stay cool and we didn't. Dunno how much of that is captaincy or senior players but it needs to be sorted.

Did Mitchell ever coach an AB team?

I thought his teams were all Development Squads.....
