It’d be awesome if Leiliifano makes the wallabies again after all he’s been through .
He started against Argentina, didn't he?
Dunno , life’s too short to watch the wallabies
He was there. It was awesome to watch. If he's starting 10 I would not begrudge the Wallabies winning the RWC. What a story that would be.
Stuff that.
Seriously dude, if you can't begrudge them a win because of CL then you have a heart of stone
I’ve met Lilo a couple of times. Great guy and awesome story. But it’s the Qantas Wallabies and the only time I ever remotely raise a smile when they play is if they beat the Boks. So no, I don’t want them to win the cup. No fairy tale for Christian. No redemption for Cheika. No vindication for the whole handling debacle of Folau. No way to seeing Hooper holding Billy Ellis.
Hold on a sec. Who said redemption for Cheika. This is solely about CL. For him and him alone I could stomach a Wallabies win.
except that wouldn't be the only story would it? All those other things would also come in a neat package.
Along with the reinforcing of the theory you can play dogshit test rugby for 4 years, and label it building for the world cup, and it's a successful practice.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, NZ winning back-to-back RWCs was the best thing for world rugby. The emphasis on the RWC and the degrading of every other game inbetween were a blight on the game. Clive Woodenknob even mentioned the farking RWC as a yardstick when his Lions were reamed. After a Lions series FFS. But Aus were probably the worst. That "building nicely for the world cup" BS was infuriating. Definitely don't want that back.
Agree wholeheartedly with this. Even if the Irish, Welsh or English win this coming RWC, they can easily look back at the last 4 years and say that it was built off the back of form / combinations / confidence / whatever developed during successful campaigns between 2015 and 2019.

Well he did go from winning the RWC to getting hammered 3-0 so I can completely see his point to be fair.
Although if those results were reversed I'm sure his stance would too.

In much the same way when he said he could easily achieve in soccer and cricket what he’d achieved in rugby that was believable. After all 76-0 is a score you associate more with cricket than rugby .
Btw he said that before the poms actually won the rwc .
Yeah I could handle Johnson, Dallaglio, Greenwood, Back, Hill and other Poms that I admired as players winning the RWC.
The fact Woodward and Dawson did shits me no end.
Was Austin Healey in that 2003 team? He was the biggest pillock of the lot. Goldie absolutely made him his bitch in 98. How the f did he make the Lions?
Healey has written a couple of decent columns which put him a bit higher in my estimation.
Matt Dawson did the hakarena which confirms what a grade A dickwad he is.
I've seen Healy do a couple of speaking gigs and he was very funny - doesn't take himself seriously at all (as compared with Dawson). Really got stuck into his ex-England teammates too, which was hilarious. I used to hate him too, but since seeing him speak, he's more of that incredibly annoying - bul ultimately likeable - little shit that every rugby team has.

Anyway , Read at 6 , ardie at 8, cane at 7, is the big interest for me ,
I really want to see what that looks like,
Credit to the coaches if they have a crack at that .
I'm thinking the will keep Read at 8, but use Savea off the back of scrums on our own ball.

thought about this on the drive to work,
Cane to 6, Savea 7, Read at 8.Cane at blindside because hes our most punishing defender and closest to what Kaino used to bring.
Read isn't a 6, so has to start at 8 - heck if he wasn't Captain, he mightn't even start. Savea at 7 because thats where hes going to be effective.
I also think this because Todd will be our bench loosie
I think the three will also move around at scrum time, which is going to be super fun for the opposition to shut-down, because they'll have to figure out what we're doing.
I think its a better balance, I think Savea & Cane are used to be on the side of scrums.
I think Todd will be bench loosie, because I don't trust any of the other current loosies to go 75min if we lost someone in the first 5min, and I think they'll want Todd to come on and go 100mph - to keep up the pace they set early. -

Good points. Looking forward to the team announcement.
Speaking of which, when's the team named?
-
On the looseforward combination it really doesn't matter what number they have on their back now. It's about their role
Roles have changed from 30 years ago, even 10 years ago, when 6 or 7 or 8 meant distinct requirements and running lines from players wearing those numbers.
It's different now.

The problem the Wallabies had is they didn’t take it far enough. Two 7s lacks balance, three 7s creates an unstoppable whirlwind of turnovers at nearly every ruck.

And of course Todd on the bench.
