The game really should have been won in the first half. The Crusaders had plenty of chances inside the red zone but some uncharacteristic errors meant they only had a 10 point buffer. Obviously the Canes defence was great, but even the great Sam W put down a sitter.

That second half was epic. I've been very meh about rugby so far this year, but that got the juices flowing. Really starting to feel pumped about the big clashes to come.

Pity this thread descended into stupidity - that was a cracking semifinal and the Canes were unlucky to lose.

The second half had some incredibly good rugby, with both the tens showing some timely form (timely for the ABs).

Some of the stuff Barrett was doing was incredible, stuff that only he can do. And straight away, Richie would pull out something almost as good. Was like a mini AB trial in front of the selectors.

TJ was huge factor out there too, his tackling is like having another flanker.

Very enjoyable game to watch as a neutral.

Be interesting to see what the impact of that game will be on the Crusaders, if that was their final. I'm expecting the actual final to be a flat game in comparison, with an easy Crusaders victory. Travel is just too big a factor, combined with home advantage.

Yep, that was incredible. He took it to another level. Imagine if he had Smith's pass!

Anyone watching this with an eye on Japan would (or should) have come away with considerable confidence.

I saw some criticism of Beaudy's option taking in the first half but that was clearly the game plan which provided considerable benefit keeping the defence honest in the second half. You simply can't rush effectively if you're concerned the ball is going to drop in behind you.

I think the two game defining moments were Marshall's horror miss cleaning up a kick and Whitelock's hand of god incident.

TJ was huge factor out there too, his tackling is like having another flanker.

It's the one real drawback of Super Rugby - the travel.

No one knows what the terms of BBs deal are. If he takes a year long sabbatical we are poop

@Canes4life Possibly still some recruiting to do, the Crusaders Loose Forwards look light we need something to stiffen up that area.
Canes would have an edge there at the moment for next season and probably a big one at that.

Shame we can't give you Reed Princep back. The Canes have signed him up for another year of two a couple of months back.

Agree with the comments on Crotty from @pakman we looked so disorganised when he went off.

serious question, what does that say about the 10?

I should have written disorganised on defense ...

I griped earlier in the thread about how we started to hang off Barrett and Coles in the second half.

I don't think it's Richie's job to lead the defensive line.

How do we know how much of that is attributed to Crotty and how much is attributed to the change in game plan from the Canes? (To add a perspective from a non Crotty fanboi neutral 😉).

Edit: Should have finished reading the thread as this was mostly covered.

@raznomore I haven’t lost my NZ’d accent at all. In my last job asking for a pen would have the office girls in hysterics.

I don't have an NZ accent anymore but a Pom mate of mine used to always ask me to speak with one whenever he was drunk. It used to make him fall off his chair and spasm with laughter. He was at my wedding and kept following an NZ girl around asking her to say something. Some people just lose their shit over the accent.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I found Scottish and Irish girls loved mine...but my English colleagues used to give me crap about mine, I probably made it worse emphasising the words they took the piss out of over the years.

Great point. I've never seen a team in any sport whinge about a refereeing decision. Ever.

Honestly I don't even think that tweet was that whingy.
Now compare that to Jamie Wall's dummy spit in on the RNZ live scoring...

The Crusaders have staved off a mighty Hurricanes challenge to win their Super Rugby semi-final 30-26 in Christchurch and set up a home decider against the Argentinian side the Jaguares.

Teams with legacy often get the rub of the green. Teams at home often get the rub of the green. It's just really tough as a supporter when your team gets close, but misses out. The reality is most sides aren't good enough to beat the Saders without a bit of luck, and if it doesn't go your way, you're done for.

Crusaders haven't been vintage this year, but their tight 5 is off the charts. We should be tlaking about the amazing performance by the Canes fatties, not a single refs call. Crusaders have been lucky with some refereeing this year, but you get that if you've got legacy. Frustrating for neutrals though 🙂

@nzzp Yeah you could also say unlucky sometimes as well
The Forward pass that wasn't in SA to deny Reece the Try was BS denied the Crusaders a Win.and the late shot by Coles in the SF are 2 that spring to mind. There a probably more.So maybe swings and Roundabouts.

    What a twat Wall is

That gives me joy to see such petulance from a Rugby Journo 🤡 🤡

Lets ignore Marshall neglecting rugby basics for Mo'unga try or Ben Lam running 10m in field to leave Sevu Reece with half a pitch to himself to score a try
