Semi Final 1: Crusaders vs Hurricanes

@antipodean Agree, it was a classic game of two halves and I'm sure the Canes will be better next year for the experience. You could probably argue that the Canes will have a better pack than the Crusaders next year, ironically the Crusaders will have a better backline. It will be interesting to see how it pans out but for now good luck to the Crusaders and Jaguares in what will be a entertaining final.

@Canes4life Possibly still some recruiting to do, the Crusaders Loose Forwards look light we need something to stiffen up that area.
Canes would have an edge there at the moment for next season and probably a big one at that. -

Hi my username is Razbra and the NZ Warriors are my NRL team.....I'd imagine being a crack addict is only slightly harder to admit.
@raznomore says my username is Razbra. FAKE NEWS!

Pity this thread descended into stupidity - that was a cracking semifinal and the Canes were unlucky to lose.
The second half had some incredibly good rugby, with both the tens showing some timely form (timely for the ABs).
Some of the stuff Barrett was doing was incredible, stuff that only he can do. And straight away, Richie would pull out something almost as good. Was like a mini AB trial in front of the selectors.
TJ was huge factor out there too, his tackling is like having another flanker.
Very enjoyable game to watch as a neutral.
Be interesting to see what the impact of that game will be on the Crusaders, if that was their final. I'm expecting the actual final to be a flat game in comparison, with an easy Crusaders victory. Travel is just too big a factor, combined with home advantage.

The game really should have been won in the first half. The Crusaders had plenty of chances inside the red zone but some uncharacteristic errors meant they only had a 10 point buffer. Obviously the Canes defence was great, but even the great Sam W put down a sitter.
That second half was epic. I've been very meh about rugby so far this year, but that got the juices flowing. Really starting to feel pumped about the big clashes to come.

Yep, that was incredible. He took it to another level. Imagine if he had Smith's pass!

@Rancid-Schnitzel Whenever I hear his name, I think about this try
Unpossible!

Anyone watching this with an eye on Japan would (or should) have come away with considerable confidence.
I saw some criticism of Beaudy's option taking in the first half but that was clearly the game plan which provided considerable benefit keeping the defence honest in the second half. You simply can't rush effectively if you're concerned the ball is going to drop in behind you.
I think the two game defining moments were Marshall's horror miss cleaning up a kick and Whitelock's hand of god incident.

It's the one real drawback of Super Rugby - the travel.

@canefan It would be not sure that's going to happen maybe BB for 2020 maybe 2021 that would be tough fuk all decent First Fives around .
No one knows what the terms of BBs deal are. If he takes a year long sabbatical we are poop

Agree with the comments on Crotty from @pakman we looked so disorganised when he went off.
serious question, what does that say about the 10?
I should have written disorganised on defense ...
I griped earlier in the thread about how we started to hang off Barrett and Coles in the second half.
I don't think it's Richie's job to lead the defensive line.
How do we know how much of that is attributed to Crotty and how much is attributed to the change in game plan from the Canes? (To add a perspective from a non Crotty fanboi neutral 😉).
Edit: Should have finished reading the thread as this was mostly covered.

@raznomore I haven’t lost my NZ’d accent at all. In my last job asking for a pen would have the office girls in hysterics.
I don't have an NZ accent anymore but a Pom mate of mine used to always ask me to speak with one whenever he was drunk. It used to make him fall off his chair and spasm with laughter. He was at my wedding and kept following an NZ girl around asking her to say something. Some people just lose their shit over the accent.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I found Scottish and Irish girls loved mine...but my English colleagues used to give me crap about mine, I probably made it worse emphasising the words they took the piss out of over the years.
