Easiest 2 points we'll get off the Crusaders!๐Ÿ™‚

I wonder if last night's draw made the decision easier?

I've already stated above that I fully agree with the cancellation and why.

From a competition perspective, I hope this cancellation doesn't impact the Highlanders or Crusaders at the end of the regular season by denying them a spot in the finals, or a home QF/SF/F because they now don't get the same number of points they would have got if they had won the game (with or without a bonus point).

On the other hand, I assume this missed game will count towards the mandatory rest days/breaks All Blacks are required to take; I don't remember which Highlanders ABs were due a rest day, but I know that Mo'unga and Barrett couldn't have played next week against the Tahs if this game had gone ahead as scheduled, because they're not allowed to play more than 5 consecutive games. Now, I assume, the count starts at 0 again.

I doubt it will and I donโ€™t think it really matters.

FWIW we are still undefeated ๐Ÿค™

I don't see how cancelling the match shows any kind of respect to victims and families, but if the players weren't wanting to play then fair enough. I feel like it would have been a fantastic opportunity to show respect and perhaps do some fundraising by going ahead with it...although bit hard to play a half decent game when you have no desire to play at all.

Fully respect the decision, would have been a good game though. So no NZ side won a game this round, I wonder how many times that has happened.

Summed up in a nutshell. Can't believe they cancelled it. Pointless. You could argue that the perpetrators got what they wanted. Would have been better to carry on and show we won't be cowed.

@ShadowTrooper the dickhead was living in Dunedin so perhaps there was also a sense of safety first to it. After all the canes v chiefs game went ahead.

The Crusaders players especially just wouldn't have their mind on the job. Some of them were on lock down where they were when it happened. I recall Kieran Read was stuck in the School Hall when waiting to pick up his kid/s.

@Bones have taken a bit of a break from the coverage so I well could have missed a police update that it was all good. Just knew he was Dunedin based etc. I was looking forward to the game too, and a distraction would have been nice.

@Paekakboyz yeah I just looked back, it's in sg's post. I'm pretty sad the game didn't go ahead but I respect the players decision.

@Paekakboyz That is my point. At some stage you reach saturation level, and I think it would have been a good way to re-focus and re-channel emotions and efforts into a positive statement.

Yeah I'm firmly of the opinion that changing our way of life means the terrorists have won, but fuck surely 48 hours of shellshock (for want of a better term) needs to be taken into account, not least for the huge number of people for whom life has literally ground to a halt. There is no-one in this city who doesn't know someone personally devastated by loss.

I was disappointed initially, but on reflection this game was the very next day.

Yep, part of my initial response was wanting life to get back to normal as fast as possible. The enormity of the atrocity is difficult to process.

No problem with the players decision at all.

I donโ€™t want that guy to affect NZ in any other way but showing that sort of hate and intolerance is not accepted here.

@Canerbry One of the main downsides of the game being cancelled is we all missed out in you getting to express your man-love for Aaron Smith๐Ÿ™
