Jordie to kick long range. Sorted.
yea, relying on JB composure, what could possibly go wrong?
It was Jordie's composure against the Lions that got him the jumper in the first place. He shat the bed in that SA test - I reckon his feet should be firmly planted on the ground again now - so hopefully he goes back to doing the basics.
If that quick throw had bounced the right way Reiko was probably down the other end scoring a try, but yeah blind Freddie could see there were 2 or 3 springboks there ready to pounce and it was very high risk.
Might have helped if Ioane hadn't run away from the ball... I'm pretty sure if Ioane isn't calling for that, Barrett doesn't throw it. Yet Barrett is getting all the shit when the guy who called it decided to drop nuts and make it look really bad.

Barrett deserves all the shit, he threw the ball. In nearly every match you see players calling for a quick lineout and the player doesn't throw the ball. Ioane deserves the shit he got for getting bundled into touch too often but this was all on the passer.

It helps if the bloke you're passing to moves towards the ball.

You can clearly see he's anticipating the ball bouncing towards him, but it bounces straight up - the vagaries of the rugby ball. Maybe Ioane should have used the same jedi mind trick that forced Jordie to throw the ball against his will to make the ball bounce towards him?

Oh yeah fuck of course. Just like if the hooker throws in and no one jumps, bloody hooker! Players dropping the ball when it's passed to them - Why on earth is the passer passing it?

Latest rankings. Cab someone explain how these work ? Full credit to S.A. but surely one won doesn't guarantee a jump of two spots?
The ranking is based on points.
Points are exchanged between teams that play each other.
The bigger the difference in points the more points are exchanged if the lower ranked team wins.
Given NZ had significantly more points than SA then the Bokke picked up a decent wedge of points.
It's explained on the website.
Because NZ has been so far in front of the teams they've played they haven't been able gain any points.

Seems kinda arrogant, why not move towards the ball so it doesn't bounce?
-
@nepia oh he's running away from a rugby ball that's going to bounce instead of trying to catch it before it bounces? Well duh, he's obviously logically on the right track, what am I thinking? Plus despite his repeated efforts to dissuade Jordie, the fucker just flings it anyway! All Barrett's fault.
-
@antipodean something you teach kids...if at all possible, try and catch the ball rather than let it bounce

That's not even analogous. A set line out is completely different than a quick throw in. You can't tell you haven't seen players not throwing quick throw ins when a player is screaming for the ball. JB made a decision to make a high risk move, it didn't work, he's a big guy and can cop the blame for it.

No it doesn't mean you jump two places it means you get two points.
The amount of points exchanged depends on the difference in points before the game and whether it's home or away.
I think 2 points is the maximum that can be exchanged.

Australia at 7 ? That must be their lowest ranking ever
Nah, in the 70s they managed to get to ninth. Predictably there are claims the coaches have to go, with counter claims asking "ok, who?".
I think making the RWC final in 2015 gave a false impression. It's been a continual slide. Since then they've managed 15 wins from 36 Tests, a success rate of 41 percent.
Rankings don't go back that far.

Hasn't someone done a historical rankings based on the results? Or did I dream that?

you can check on lassen.co.nz
It's retrospective but gives some historical reference to how shit they've been and that's what counts IMO.
