Reds vs Chiefs

I thought the Chiefs were going to throw away a BP. Very average 2nd half.
MMac is so bad. A doormat on defence, misses touch from a penalty and earlier takes a quick tap instead of kicking into the corner on one of the few occasions the Chiefs were on attack in the 2nd half. Just as well we've got a bye next week so DMac has a rest.

The other thing, that was almost the Taranaki backline once DMac went off. Only ALB and Alaimalo not from there.
Speaking of Alaimalo, he's still got a long way to go before he is in contention for the ABs. This game demonstrated all his weaknesses - concentration lapses, dropping passes, poor ball placement in the tackle.

Chiefs lose their star first five and end up looking like the blues... Hmmm.
"Star" is pushing it -- he's the third best fullback in NZ, at best. I like watching him play, but he's a mix of awesome and awful in every game.
"Star first five" is confusing the "star" and the "first five" bits. They aren't related, any more than calling Ritchie McCaw "world famous helicopter pilot" would be correct.

As mentioned by the commentary team at the end of the game. I assume the other 5 are all Crusaders players, although Mealamu, Gregan and Matfield could be possibilities.

Messam needed 161 games to pick up 100 wins.
Sooo...Crockett is a given. If Bovidae is right then the others would surely be Ellis, Flynn, McCaw and Carter.
Were the Crusaders successful enough for Dan to get to 100 wins from 141 games? I'm a bit doubtful.
On the other hand, it's hard to see there'd be anyone from a different franchise
who'd get there with less games than Messam. So I'm going with Crockett, Ellis, Flynn, McCaw, Messam and Mealamu.

The Chiefs definitely need Dmac's spark on attack. Will they have to rest him v Jaguares, and when will Falcon be back?
Really impressed with Tuinukuafe, Polwart and Ardron, who all stepped up, and Fa'auli had his best game. Not so much by Alaimalo, Mmac and Sowakula though. Ben Lam way ahead of Alaimalo. But, the Reds were pretty poor all the same, so the mistakes didn't cost Chiefs much.
