Did people listen to Warner's press conference? It sounds like a lawyer told him exactly what to say and what not to say.
No different from Smith. He cuts a more sympathetic figure

Didn't listen to his press conference but it didn't sound like it was as formulaic as Warner's.

His delivery was better. Bancroft seemed quite believable until you saw him putting all that sugar in his pocket a while back. Now you wonder how long they've been actually cheating for

Poor bugger, wrenched his way through a painful apology and then had to field questions from lying vultures intent on more muck raking.
Humanity would be someone telling him to go home to his family and end the press conference
His decision to hold a press conference. If he (and Smith) wanted to simply to read a prepared speech, he could have had someone record it on their phone. Or have the transcript provided to the press. But if you want to use the fourth estate to resurrect your playing career or earning capacity in the future, don't forget it's a two way street...

@antipodean oh ok I didn't realise he'd set the format.
I think the world's got the message across to David now, be nice to let him serve his punishment in peace
-
@bones said in Convicts v Marxist Land Thieves - Crucket:
I only caught a couple of minutes... All I saw was him saying he was sorry about the consequences of his actions. So basically saying he's sorry he got caught? Pretty honest.
Yup is he sorry...
For doing the wrong thing?
Doing the wrong thing and getting caught ?
Or doing the wrong thing, getting caught and losing millions of dollars ?
-
@siam said in Convicts v Marxist Land Thieves - Crucket:
@virgil patently all of the above Virg.
He's chosen to cheat, got caught, been judged, found guilty, punished severely and now has to serve his penance.
That's the system to its conclusion.
Time to cease laying the boots in innit?
Yep, stories over. Let's move on. Even the memes are getting crap.

Reality is that if warner had approached things the same way smith did and vice Versa, everybodies views and direction of bouts would be exactly the same due to preconceived thoughts.
The day a Dad gets abuse for carrying his sleeping 3 year old daughter off a plane is the day the world has lost the plot.
Those who abused him for that get a grip and take a look at yourself.

I hope this is just a case of too many shandies again MR.
Don't be such an utter fool. He didn't need to go through the throng of reporters carrying his kid. Fuck he didn't need to have his family with him at all. He did it deliberately to get sympathy. Are you seriously suggesting he had no option? Horseshit.

@rancid-schnitzel wow, you've been proper sucked in! Let me guess ... you now feel sorry for Smith and think he's a great bloke who just fucked up?
-
Not just us cruel and nasty ferners who think little of Warner’s actions the past few days, especially the joke of a media conference

@majorrage I don't follow cricket or it's player very closely at all, no preconceived thoughts here.
Wow.....so you comment on a sports forum without even watching. Who actually does That?

Something stronger than shandies me thinks.
How have I been sucked in genius? And no my thoughts on Smith haven't changed one bit. I actually found that cringe inducing. Nice touch adding pappa though.
But back on Warner. You seriously think he didn't use his kids to garner sympathy?
You talk about people being properly sucked in and then berate others for being mean to the poor poor dad who was just carrying his kid off the plane. The irony...
-
He absolutely could have avoided his kids going through that.
Who I their right mind would put their young kids through that media scrum?
He could have gone through on his own taking the media circus with him, kids wife and helpers to follow later
