It does make you think that despite all the talk of more expansive rugby, Gatland can't get past the big muster plan A.

Canada's squad to play Spain has been named. You can find it here.
I noticed this in the squad announcement:
Ontario’s Tyler Ardron is no longer available for selection for the final two games of the series based on professional rugby commitments in New Zealand;
I'm surprised that he apparently has to be back for Chiefs pre-season and isn't allowed to play for his country.

Yeah, damn poaching Super Rugby franchises running roughshod over the international game. Money talks.

Why the fuck have the chiefs signed a Canadian anyway?
What position does this guy play?
Irrelevant question though because it’s not like we wouldn’t have enough local talent to fill that space.I can accept the odd PI player here and there coz they’re our neighbors and we should be helping them out, but anyone outside of that can bugger of to Europe for a professional contract.

I agree. However, rightly or wrongly, they are stuck with him. I suppose there could be a slight acceptance if he was a miles in front clear choice to start every game but he is unlikely to be that. If he is simply just a member of the squad there is very little to justify his inclusion and the money could be better used to develop a player that might be of use to NZ rugby at some level in the future.

DISCIPLINARY UPDATE – PATRICK TUIPULOTU DECISION
New Zealand lock, Patrick Tuipulotu,, appeared on Friday 17 November before an independent World Rugby Judicial Officer in Edinburgh having been cited by an independent World Rugby Citing Commissioner for alleged foul play (dangerous charging) in the match between France XV and New Zealand XV at Groupama Stadium in Lyon on Tuesday 14 November. The Judicial Officer, Roger Morris (Wales) listened to representations by and on behalf of the player, viewed video footage of the incident and reviewed all of the other evidence. He was not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that act an of foul play had been committed, and accordingly dismissed the citing complaint. Patrick Tuipulotu is free to resume playing immediately.

All this weekend's results can be found in the first post of this thread.
Not in that post, but noteworthy, is that Uruguay beat Namibia 52 - 36 in Windhoek. -
@stargazer Good. Should never have been cited.

Highlights clip from the Romania v Samoa match. Great dramatic effect with that music and about 6 repeats of every kick, but it's awesome to see the joy of the Romanians at the end of the match. Celebrating like they've just won the World Cup!

Highlights from Spain (27) v (37) Canada, numbers 20 and 21 in the world rankings, respectively. I hadn't realised, before I looked it up, that Spain was ranked higher than Canada (which even climbed 2 places by winning this test). When did that happen?
After the first (2017) leg of the Rugby Europe Championship (the tier below 6 Nations), Spain sits third on the table behind Romania and Georgia; although these two countries are in a better position to win a ticket to the RWC2019, Spain still has a small chance.

Wow.
German rugby expansion stuck at a crossroads as players threaten to go on strike
More recent info is that an almost completely new squad has been called up to prepare for the test against Chile, including most of their sevens squad and its coach.
