@handa457 He doesn't drink does he? I recall him always being sober when out and about but I could be wrong. I think it is more like he was speeding, and simply panicked not wanting to get caught and the repercussions of it. Clearly evading and getting charged is worse but we all have lapses of judgement at times. I said "I do" nearly 30 years ago and I am still paying for that

@taniwharugby Not sure how it is in NZ but in Australia there are non conviction options or good behaviour non conviction basically meaning it does not impact your criminal record like a conviction sentence would.
Yeah says as much in article "Defence lawyer Rowan Butler entered the pleas on his behalf before community magistrate Kaye Davies. He asked that a plea not be immediately entered so he can request a discharge without conviction on behalf of his client."
Come to think of it I have had a few discharges without conviction in my time

One man's "evading police" is another man's "looking for an available safe space to pull over as quickly as possible"

I'd imagine there was a time back in the day when simply being an AB was enough to get you off this kind of thing. Sign a couple of autographs and back on your bike.

TBF, we went pretty nanny state in the early 2000s with the other Caleb and then again in the late 2010s/early 2020s with Bridge.
