nothing worse than water retentiong - from 78kg to 92kg in four days was me post the national BB champs in 09. Not a great feeling that is for sure, feels like 100g of sausage meat stuffed into a 50g casing, and looks like it too....
following on from that, here's a great workout that I would absolutely not be able to do-but I might take parts of it. They call it a 300 workout. Whatever, it's killer.
Apologies for the overt US Army bits within the video.

in 28 minutes he does:

25X chin ups
50X hang cleans 135 lb
50X plyo push ups
50X single arm DB snatches 40lb
25X sit up presses 30 lb
25X squat jumps
50X bent over rows, pluu and shrug 95 lb
25X push up to pull up
That's awesome stuff. I've done another "300" workout which is a bit different to that one.

I've never see sit up presses before, and those bent over rows into shrugs x 50 would be a real killer after all the rest of the stuff.

Apparently the body has three sources of energy which it calls on. Does anyone know much about this?
the third not so well know - alcohol. if that's in your system that gets burned first before you burn anything else. xzxdrinks

mate, no highlights yet. Still retaining fluid like crazy and not feeling that flash at all to be honest - bloated and unwell. Not training, took the week off and back into next week. See out trainer on Tuesday and get new programmes and eating plans for the next few months then. Next comp in May or June of next year.

Think the cumulative effect of leaning down twice in two weeks have made the after effects (we retained fluid after the first one too, but only for a couple of days before the body came right) worse. No way would I recommend doing two in two weeks to ANYONE!

Have had some judges talking to my trainer about me going up to the physique class - the massive dude on he right. I wouldn't mind, but Mrs B doesn;t like the 'freaks' very much. I think my legs are already to that level, upper body is where the work would have to be. If I could keep my symmetry I wouldn't mind, but I don't want to look too big. I like the fact that I throw a tee shirt on and no one knows that I am a BB!

Have they fixed the stairs track up the side of the Mount now?

Back in the rowing days used to run up there quite a bit. Now generally just go for a plod around the Mount when I'm back in Tauranga. Always a fairly nice run with a breeze around there. I think its about 3.5km around?
cheers Bartman, since the small-convenient gym doesn't have much in the way of support-I'll probably join bodybuilding.com for traing/diet advice. I've picked some knowledge and have a decent food plan worked out. Main thing for me will be getting enough sleep-I often get by on 2-3 hours so need to sort that out. Became a bit lazy in the last month so have already started recovering that fitenss first before the gym.
Sleep is a tough one. The boy still gives me the odd interupted night when his teeth are hurting but I'll be sure to have a bit of a lie in on saturday and/or sunday and also have a good old doze on the couch on both of those days. Every site I visit encourages heaps of sleep but 10 hours a night is a bit tough !
I've been doing Pilates for over 6 years now and would swear by it.
The video's are misleading as they focus on MAT work whcich is the closest to yoga but I do very little of that. It is more about resistance traing using a number of large expensive machines which is why the vids for home market don't feature them. Basically the video's don't refelect what I do at all.
That's interesting. The mat work was all I knew about pilates.

I haven't been onto Fatbusters for ages and read this thread with some trepidation as my resting heart rate has always been in the 90's. Just took it sitting at desk after about 5 coffees this a.m. and it was 60 which apparently for an old fuck is Excellent. All the cardio this year is doing some good Choice

    Yeah, me too!

I used to be a Demon 'energy' drink fiend before me and the mrs got into the BB stuff. I was rowing heaps though, but the weight was sneaking back on - havinmg a couple of those a day, and a cookie time anzac biscuit at morning smoko does not help - a minute on the lips, a year on the hips!
The two pushups I'm enjoying right now that give me a good workout are spiderman pushups and one leg decline pushup. I like to use the spiderman as the 3rd exercise in upper/lower body superset.

Hey Toddy - I've tried that 300 workout and didn't get close. Its the pullups that get me. But one exercise that I love from that workout that I do pretty full on at least once a week are the Floor Wipers.

The '300' workout recommends 135lbs (about 60kgs), which took some time to work up to, but now I'm doing a set of 20 (ie 40 movements) with 70kgs. Its a hell of an exercise and if you like supersets try doing it with a set of decline medicine ball pushups without any rest between. KILLER
