Are either of the Irish locks known as good leaders? Both very good players likely to be victims of the depth in that position.
Only one lock in Henderson and not a leader in my view.
O'Mahony would be a great midweek leader. Gnarly, snarly, tough, perma-Munster bitter, uncompromising and slightly mad.
Oh and he can play rugby too, apparently.

Oops!

@Pot-Hale 😯😯 There's going to be some shut for that.

Was always the British Lions
It was the British Isles actually. Then, they got tagged as the Lions by some journos back in the 40s/50s and were dubbed the British Lions. Then the Irish boys said something along the lines of 'feck this for a haircut, I'm not standing for God Save the Queen again before a Lions match, change the feckin name to reflect the two countries or we're staying home with mammy" so they did, and they all lived happily ever after.

IRFU tweeted BT Sport and England Rugby with something along the lines of " I don't think you've quite got the hang of Irish Rugby yet there lads"
After a short silence whilst BT Sport graphic designers studied their geography books, consulted their atlases, read up on recent Irish history, talked to David Attenborough, they managed to find the missing 26 counties and add them back in.
Phew! Crisis averted.

@MN5 Genuine question. How many Scots do you think have been hard done by?
I honestly can't name too many.
W P Nel - dunno how his injury situation is though - cough, Warburton, cough.
Gray bros - Lock is a position of strength and I think they've suffered the backlash of the England match.
Russell - I would have taken him over Biggar and would have it a close call between him and Ford.Anyone else?

Watson, Laidlaw and Dunbar were probably names mentioned. Even Visser.
I reckon 6-7 woulda been realistic. They beat both Ireland and Wales this year afterall.
All the butthurt fans are thrilled in one sense though cos it means the squad to Australia will be strong.

I wouldn't mind if someone could give me a logical answer as to why one country ranked 5th provides just two players and another ranked 8th provides twelve.
Now i know how Highlanders fans felt in 2015 when none of their forwards became ABs
Because Scotland haven't provided many players to the side over the last number of tours. That feeds into prejudice in selectors' minds. The coaching team is made up of Welsh and English coaches which creates an inevitable bias towards the players they know (and think can resurrect themselves) as opposed to ones they don't Gray Bros, Dunbar, Maitland, Watson, Jones, etc.
I'm curious if Laidlaw and Nel were available and were selected today, along with Hogg and Seymour and say Maitland and Dunbar, would that have been enough? Or was there a wider expectation of say 8-10 places?

I think that would more than suffice . 8-10 is fantasy stuff....

Fair enough, so who gets dropped to make way from the selection today?
Laidlaw for Youngs/Webb?
Nel for Sinckler?
Dunbar for Davies?
Russell for Biggar?
Maitland ??
Gray for Henderson?
Watson for ?? -

There's obviously gonna be a heap of 50/50 calls and it's hard to see the Scots getting any benefit from those.

@MN5 not sure I can buy into a precious moan from someone who probably watched about 5 minutes of 6N rugby....
5 minutes is being generous, however if rugby writers can get paid for watching about the same amount I reserve my right to be outraged and appalled on an internet forum.

in the interest of fairness and political correctness, each nation should have provided and equal number of players, and then given certificates to the ones that would have gone if not for being overlooked in the name of fairness.
I also thnk the Lions should play Payne in the game in Whangarei to make local fans happy, what say you @Stargazer
@MN5 which rugby writers get paid to watch 5 minutes?
