Agreed plus. Teh Fern is famous for repeating BS to a point it becomes a perverted truth. Look at the TJP crap that is served up. Toeava was one of my favorite players. He suffered from not playing a consistent position and primarily because he was that good and if he wasn't all that Hansen and Co would not have chosen him.

That is the one game he played where I thought he actually lived up to the hype. That was it. He played well in others (ppl talk about the HK game too), but that was the only game I thought he properly owned.

He didn't have a lot of things go his way (injuries, inconsistent positions), but he also never really did anything to deserve a permanent AB starting spot.

He was simply sensational for the Blues. World class at Super level, outstanding going forward and punishing on defence. We missed him massively when he left.

The fern is also famous for its knights in shining armour.... :)

I liked Toeava as a player and his performance in the Republic for the Blues in a losing Semi was a masterclass of allround 2nd 5 play that is still memorable.

However I don't buy the "not playing a consistent position because he was that good" argument. Plenty of backs have played multiple positions and still been able to thrive.

The big thing for Ice was confidence. He always came across as a shy reserved sort of character - and that's fine and plenty of ABs have been like that - but that appeared to follow him on to the field.

When he was aggressive and high on confidence he played accordingly. But then we saw games where he would drop a ball and then go into his shell and then he'd drop another. And the fans were out for blood. It happens all the time.

There's a few would make a contest of it - Folau, Warren Whitely, Itoje, Hartley among others - but even with bias it's not too far away from being a statement of fact. :)

i agree with this, and further think it's the reason why picking him so young before he was ready, and consequently fucking his confidence was stupid. i know the consensus around here is that any criticism of henry is out of bounds, but that was fucking dumb.

My world XV on last outings form : Brown - Smith Joseph Moala North - Barrett Smith - Vunipola Haskell Kaino - Retallick Itoje - Franks Coles Vunipola.

Moala is here because there are no other standouts at 2nd Five. Farrell is a good goalkicker but he brings nothing on attack while Hernandez is error prone and Jamie Roberts a shadow of his former self.

Folau's is in poor form right now. Dagg played very well in the third test vs Wales but was a bit disappointing vs Australia. So who else ?

Folau was better than brown. Smith was better than brown. Dagg was better than brown in June (the last time brown played). Brown hasn't been great in a while.

Ok, I'm officially lost. I thought this thread would be full of posters venting about Parsons being called up but despite the title it seems to be all about Winger/conspiracy and Davidav/Toeava.
Any chance of posts about what is actually happening pre test?

I really hope they go ALB & Fekitoa in the midfield, but fear they'll fall back on the more experienced cough cough Tamanivalu.

He had a crack against Wales and came up short, so no harm in trying someone else.

Its hard to tell what sort of form he's in, the Aussie backline had no ball & no structure. He was in very good form v the Poms, was the one Aussie who genuinely looked likely to tear them apart. I assume he'll be at centre this week maybe with Quade at 15 (?), so we'll get a better view of him. I'd still have him at 15 if her were an AB, with Ben on the wing. Hell, I'd be grooming him for 13 if he were a kiwi. He's a devestaingly good runner.

Brown was barely clinging on the the England shirt this year & most thought he should have been dropped

Haskell had a season of it and couple of months ago single handedly destroyed the Australian backrow. I'd love to see Itoje have a couple of seasons, he's an utter superstar & has great hands, getting him in an environment where he has to catch & pass 20 times a game would help him no end.

Folau's defence isn't good enough right now to be centre. He would definitely waltz into the All Blacks though.

We got sidetracked! Toeava s a fun topic always seems like people were watching different games when he played for ABs, I always think that the final selections were pretty conclusive and at best he under-achieved for whatever reason. I think Davidav had short end of stick and had fair points.

Back to topic : right now I think Folau might be only Wallaby worthy of AB jersey ( on the wing) and probably forced us to kick less than we would have preferred. That said I think Wallabies usually lose the midfield battle to ABs and if I were Cheika I would throw caution to wind and play Ashley-Cooper 12, Folau 13 and Cooper 15.

Aussie forward pack is powder puff. One world class forward (Pocock if he plays his rightful position of 7). Fardie and Hooper have their moments, but Pooper is a failure. Dreadful 2nd row, and while the front row is OK, it's nothing to write home about.
