Crusaders vs Canes

Tabai Matson said Fukafuka got a speeding ticket answering the SOS in getting from his club game to AMI.

P.S. Let me guess, your a Chiefs supporter who hates Ardie for the fact that he may nab Sam Canes spot in the future?

Maybe you're being a bit subtle for my old brain and you already know, but Bones has been a Wellington supporter since way back. Even laced up his boots in the darkest hutt if I remember correctly.

Perhaps his criticisms of A Savea, many of which I've also voiced in the past, are based on something other than provincial bias.

Not knocking provincial bias mind you. Without it, most jokers here would have half the post count. -
As with the Chiefs landers game, I avoided media all weekend so came to this game knowing the winner but nothing else.

Random thoughts as a neutral during the game.

1st half

Ha! Wasn't it Chris B who said that Crockett would never turn someone inside out? Well, he heard you huge couple of early scrums.

It's a cracking game and I'm only 10 minutes in. Hurricanes on attack and Crockett and Todd make an incredible try save. That was fucking wow.

And, just as I was thinking Woodward looks ok at 13, he scores off a great Barrett pass (also v. good in the first 10).

16 in and I'm too busy watching to bother commenting - breaks and counter breaks, then James Marshall takes Nadolo high?!? He went down faster than a thousand dollar hooker.

Crusaders blew a chance here - Drummond indecisive and they lose some go forward, then drop it next phase. Nadolo goes down again. Wtf?

Crusaders get on the board from a maul penalty I wasn't 100% convinced about. Crusaders now building pressure and controlling the pace of the game with a few minutes of sustained possession - and get the penalty but no reward. Ouch.

And Woodward gets caught be Read when they make the ridiculous decision to try to run it out. Good to see the big name players making plays, although that was a shit decision by Barrett. Risk/reward from 95 metres out is a key Chiefs weakness, but Hurricanes occasionally have it too..

Canes really want to use the maul but the Saders just keep holding them out. Great intensity. Damn good kick through by Halaholo but Jules is veeeeery lucky not be to done for a high tackle. Crusaders get it back with their scrum... They've got the power but they look like they are driving up.

Fuck! TJ with the charge. And, that's that. Rather be lucky than good and that really changes things with time up.

Second half

Israel Dagg.... Bad drop. Having said that, where the fuck were the wheels there McNicol? Clear opportunity to go yoursel with Marshall holding off?

Fuck, now everyone's at it. J Savea spills an easy one..

I'm loving the Canes short balls to Uhila. He's a beast around the field. J Savea spills it again....

Oh no, Matt Todd. Terrible miss. Now handbags! This game has it all - Romano coming to Read's defense?

Oh, Barrett (crusader) penalized for an action which happens 10 times a game and never gets called. I'm happy with that call - if it's consistent, but it's not, so wtf?

Crockett gets a hard call too. Thought that was a good turnover - to the point he handled the ball he was on his feet?

Canes keeping the pressure on and particularly keeping the Saders in their own half, 11 down with 10 left they'll need to take some risks... But eventually too much pressure (fucking bad miss Read!) and Canes score. Holy shit it's 10-28 and the game is gone.

Crusaders have really missed the impact of Crockett off the bench, plus no Whitelock, no Ellis. The bench hasn't really added much while the Canes have had good value from theirs... Possession handling starting to be a problem for the Crusaders and this game is fizzing out. Shit, Barrett scores on the buzzer? 10-35?

Canes. Fuck, didn't see this coming (check my tips). Overall, the better won although they had a one or two lucky moments. Suddenly, finals will be interesting - 4 NZ teams with different styles.

Still think the Saders are in with a big chance if they can get a few players healthy and strengthen then bench especially. No Whitelock is huge so with him and Moody back they're still a chance... -

Um errr yah. I don't care where Bones is from. Todd got arse raped on Saturday in full view of his beloved Crusader fans and he is trying to downplay Ardie's performance to take away the spotlight from Todd's embarrassment for a tackle.

I had another look at the first twenty minutes and the reason Ardie didn't do much defending was because we were pretty much on attack the whole time. Therefore point = invalid.

Il just take satisfaction from the Canes fine performance and the fact that I can stroll up to my stadium and watch playoff footy this week.

Up the Canes!!
-

Oh you mean the time when I said Ardie was 6 ft 2, when he is infact 6 ft 2. Get over it mate. Or get some glasses.

Stop being but hurt. The Canes are on top. Ardie is playing good rugby. He can improve for sure and I hope the Canes get the job done.

Im not sure what orgasmic means to you mate but you must get off looking at a dead rat if you think my comments are on "orgasmic level". Just defending a player that has been the dominant 7 throughout this years comp. If you can't see that you have rocks in your head.

Peace out!!
-

Back the truck up......

You said you are 6 ft 2 and he is taller ? I'm struggling to keep up, all this height fluctuation can't be good for his spine especially given how physical Rugby is these days.

I do have glasses ( contacts too which I favour on sunny days so as to wear shades with them, even Dads have images to try and maintain ) so I don't think that's an issue, they do make me look quite smart actually, people often assume I'm some kind of IT whiz when I wear them. Perhaps I've been getting my metric system messed up, if that is the case then I might well be 6 foot 4 which would be nice. Has a real ring to it, full of muscles just like the song too, you should read my fitness thread.....

What does "but hurt" mean ? I can assure you I'm into women, not blokes. Dead rats I'll leave to the cats, no shortage of them on the back section.
-

Hold the Phone!!

I am 6 ft 2 and he is probably the same height, maybe a touch taller but the way you were going on sounded like he was bordering on the same height as a fetis.

I didn't realise it was a crime to back the players that you thought were worthy of being selected for their country. I back Ardie with a higher passion than other blokes running around the footy field because I was fortunate enough to play against him and along side him a few years ago and though being a few years younger than myself he still comfortably won the game against us and for us single handedly.

He is starting to show that same form in Super Rugby and even though he wasn't as dominant the other night against the Crusaders he has shown that raw potential to be a Super talent (evident against the Highlanders and Waratahs this year) and a key cog in the Canes franchise and All Black rugby moving forward. Il say it now he will be the greatest Canes forward by the end of his career and I hope he can lead us to a few titles.

Right now though I can fully admit that he has his work ons and he is not the full package and will probably never be perfect, however he will certainly be around for a long time and he will only get better as he grows into a more adult frame.

I wish I could say the same about his bro.
-

It's not a crime at all to back player X over player Y for whatever reason. This place would be nothing if members didn't have their favourites but I think it's the blind assumption that Bones is a Matt Todd loving Cantab ( he's not ) from you merely cos he criticised Saveas game that might have irked some people on here.

I think Savea is pretty special but maybe we're all a bit "kiwi" in that we tend not to go over the top like you sometimes do.

Greatest Canes forward ? given most of the "greats" are/were backs this is definitely possible.
-

Haha the first 20 minutes the Crusaders didn't touch the ball so my point is invalid. Brilliant.

Imagine if everyone backed players with such blind passion just cos they almost touched them one day.

I have vivid memories of lunchtime games of hold and tackling someone who went on to become a Super 12 champion with the Crusaders ( well, more a case of him tripping over me but he still went down ). Despite me telling everyone who listened how amazing he was he never became an AB. Unbelievable.
-

You just made me realise I even went to the same school as Ardie. In Christchurch of course. In the 80s. -

I'm just astounded to read Caners actually played. I didn't pick that at all.

Don't be ridiculous. Ardie didn't go to school he was genetically constructed from DNA of Michael Jones, Richie McCaw, Pinetree Meads and Stephen Adams ( that's where he gets the height from )
-
