It makes more sense to me to go Barrett-Barrett-Proctor.

@Daffy-Jaffy I’m disappointed that Surfboard Jesus doesn’t appear to be a man amongst men (or boys) when in front of the media. Always seems nervous. Was he the same at the Saders or do I remember differently? Bit of the old Ron Manager (IYKYK) about him.

He wasn't really under any pressure from the media at the Crusaders.

We need a « you know » ometer for Robertsons press conferences.
I just thought he came across as nervous and not very eloquent or on top of the detail.
Sammy Cane and Jordie Barrett did a better job.
-
@African-Monkey Those were all fairly predictable questions at the press conference that he should have been able to knock away to the boundary. Did he not practice with the media officer beforehand?
-
@Mattasaurus liked purely for the last line.

@sparky Joe Marler question and what should have been the answer….
“I know Joe. It’s great that we have outspoken characters like him in the game. Everyone is free to respond to the Haka however they want. And we’ll respond accordingly. Nobody ever mentions it until we come on tour to the Northern Hemisphere and then whether it’s Joe, Matt Dawson or anybody else it gives you something to talk about until 3pm on Saturday and then everyone forgets about it completely and the game kicks off. Rugby is full of stories about responses to the Haka, whether it was England in 2019, France in 2007, or behind closed doors in Cardiff. If we binned it what would the media chat about between now and kick off? There’s a reason our games sell out up here and other countries don’t. It’s the black jersey, it’s the Haka, it’s the way we play. Rugby needs to sell as many tickets as possible and well done to Joe for bringing it up again so the world can be reminded what sets All Blacks games apart.’’

@game_film Instead Robertson choose to look offended. An odd choice. His whole manner in the press conference was strange, rocking back and forwards.
Seems to be the way he operates at this level - that first game against England he was banging the walls of the box and couldn't sit still.
Reminded me of Cheika - not visibly in control of emotions and reactions

@sparky I highly doubt England have improved since they went down under, having not played. If Razor's team can't take care of them after a whole season of learnings, then that's a complete failure.
Yeah I think in some ways this is razors biggest test , because you could make a case that we are not quite ready to be expected to beat South Africa and Ireland yet .
But if we are improving, we should be clinical enough to do the business and beat the teams ranked below us .

Small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts

we're red hot favourites, so should get over the line. Fingers crossed for a statmeent performance like Henry in 04 vs France!

I don’t mind seeing Mark Telea back to his preferred right wing and seeing him get a chance. Factor in how much England love to bomb the back 3 and it’s a pretty smart decision to have him in there over Reece. They would have bombed Reece’s wing all day and made life miserable.
Overall a very solid side, it’s going to a real test match. Bring it on.

It doesn’t bother to me be honest. I struggle to think of an eloquent AB coach. I’d rather that than some « journey » spiel.

Robertson has always been awkward in front of the media, even with the Crusaders. And he has always been animated in the coach's box.

@Billy-Tell Fred Allen, Brian Lochore, Earle Kirton and Graham Henry.
Laurie Mains, John Hart and Steve Hansen weren't bad with the media either.

Is De Groot injured?
Yes. He is carrying a leg complaint and isn’t quite up to speed/fitness. Unsure of the severity but was told he was touch and go for this game. Having depth like we do with Tamaiti Williams now is nice so they don’t have to force anything and rush back too early.
Edit. I see there are reports out on stuff about ‘internal standards’ whatever that may mean.
