By the way, all the stupid shit written on this thread about Sotutu and Ioane reminds me of the days of rabid posters defending Mark Robinson being selected over Tana.
I wasn't around then, but that's funny. We're they they same people who rated Caleb Ralph over Jonah?

The same people calling for Plummer are largely the same people who think DMac is doing a perfectly fine job
No, am not calling for Plummer

giving spots to guys that are primarily there to mentor does my head in.....you dont have to be in the playing squad to pass on your knowledge

Ioane leaving means no point in selecting him.
but they still selected Cane and TJP...

and I wouldn't have - but there is a significant gap in their respective AB experience, especially Cane - so you can see the thinking (even if it's wrong).

I'm just saying that isn't a hard and fast rule, and Ioane had 21 tests himself.

It's funny how big a whipping boy Caleb has become. The way he is spoken about you would think he was rusted in to the jersey for a decade, and keeping generational talents out of the team. He played 14 tests in like 6 years. He did manage to score 9 tries in those 14 games too.

Yep, against Tonga, Canada, Italy and a 2002 version of Ireland.

I remember thinking at the time that Justin marshall hung around longer than he should have, was playing past him primeā¦.but canāt think of too many people sinceā¦until the last few years

Robin Brooke had a last tour up north in the late 90s and was well off the pace. Sad to see; felt a bit of a farewell pick at the time.
Exceptional player though

Social media etiquette should not be a criteria for AB selection.
I don't think anyone said it should be. But think about it like this:
If you were a coach, and a player refused to answer a phone call explaining his non-selection, and went on to make a cryptic social media post moaning about it, would you be more or less likely to be inclined to select him in the future?

Firstly, did that happen?
Secondly, I'd remain neutral because it's my job and I'm a professional - I'm not going to have a sulk because someone else does - and particularly a young man with every right to be very fucking disappointed. -

Yes - the social media post was public, and Foster literally spoke about the phone call thing.
Secondly, I'd remain neutral because it's my job and I'm a professional - I'm not going to have a sulk because someone else does - and particularly a young man with every right to be very fucking disappointed.
Fair enough if that's your view. Personally though, there is a degree of respect. I find it a pretty entitled way to act (particularly the phone call) for a guy who had less than 15 ABs caps to his name.

One thing we seem to have learned is that Ryan/Razor seem to hold grudges.
To answer your question - if I thought someone could add to my team's perforamnce, I would do what it took to get them engaged. Writing people off is what bad managers do. Getting the best out of different people and personality types is a strength I expected Razor to have (in particular). Arguably Hansen had it. Henry definitely had it.
