I also can't see why anyone in their right mind would drop Rieko after the game he had.
At the risk of sounding like a degenerate Hater, can I ask what Rieko did to apparently be un-droppable?
That was his best game this year but I think even then he was still our least effective back ball in hand.
His defensive work was generally very, very good, positioned himself well with JB and he was effective at the breakdown. I don't think he's kicked on as much as we hoped, but that was a really solid effort and the JB/RI midfield worked pretty well.

Vaa’i to cover 6 now that he’s really stepped up in the second row
You’re welcome
So you're saying 21 would be Lord?
Yeah but only if he’s less than 80% fit

It won't happen but would be nice to see what plummer could do off the bench.
Genuinely interested in what role you see him playing with the cattle in front of him.
I think DMac will be getting as much time as possible at 1st 5. Last night was only his 11th start at 1st 5 and he’s only played 6 tests off the bench where he was moved to 1st 5. Yes he’s got super experience at 10, but he needs to continue to develop in this role.
We do need other options no doubt about it and perhaps Plummer could be a 12 option, but it seems ALB has that bench spot sewn up.

@MiketheSnow is doing his best to prove why Wales have been irrelevant for 70 years
I have no idea what that means

Liam Messam and Steven Luatua really were around in the wrong era weren't they?
They'd play 100+ tests each if they were around today.

Nah, he's a Blues loosie not named Papali'i, he wouldn't get a run now.

@Jet If he can learn not to go down like a sniper has shot him every time he goes into contact.
Fingers crossed it's all just part of getting back into rugby after a few years off. Granted that's better off done at a lower level than test rugby, but I guess at least if he does begin to actually be able to move bodies then he'll at least know the patterns..

@pakman
I really think we should throw caution to the wind.
Start the above it'll certainly change the backline dynamic and who's to say not for the better.Bringing on fresh inexperienced guys in the last 15 minutes hasn't helped in the last couple of games.
How about reverse it and have BB, TJP and RI up your sleeve towards the end of the game if you need experience.

And was ineffective on wing.

Because TJ has always had zero composure, and BB was the worst offender at the back end of the last game under pressure.
BB made some howlers against England, followed by some highlights reel plays. The howlers got ignored (putting ball out on the full, for instance). We got lucky then.
I don't think anyone expected this season to be what it is - a repeat of Foster's team, playing similar styles but with a few veterans not there. It's weird.

Victor Vito is the one that comes to mind for me , that guy could have been anything but played in the wrong era sitting behind kaino and read .

@nzzp dunno, with those vets gone and a new coaching team, I think I always expected there to be some struggles.
Struggles maybe, but I didn't think we'd be seeing Cane starting at 7 and a bunch of 6.5 squaddies selected. And so far not much of a change in gameplan ... in fact do we konw what our gameplan is?
What I didn't expect was the poor mental performance late in games
