Haven't seen this game, but reading through the thread - in reference to the OP - it sounds like Marshall got it right for once?

Grr, had a whole post that didn't upload so I'll do the short version:

Ardie was great tracking back for that try saver, and in general bloody good, and he's a decent size.

The commentators love the Du Preez twins.

The Canes were like the Chiefs, always looking like they were going to break out yet never being able to. Sharks are a pretty good team.

Didn't see 2nd half but IMHO from what I saw in the 1st half, the centres and locks were very ordinary. Not enough penetration and some pretty dodgy defence.

He was poor last weekend poor again this week. This is one of a number of issue with the Canes this year. Why start Shields when he looks in need of a rest and there is a good replacement on the bench

Another obvious poor decision is starting Aso at center. He's a 2nd 5 not a center so if he starts he should start in this position. Poor decision making also cost the Chiefs game for two reasons. One they continue to leave Barrett as kicker when he isn't good enough. And they are shit at clearing the ball from their goal line. And why not do more rotation when players are tired. They are relying on too few squad members and now seem to be paying the price

Its frustrating to watch. Lose when the game plan and selections are sound is acceptable. But last year they were great except in the final. But now they are falling back into Boyd / Plumtree stupidity that occurred too often when these two coached Wellington. Maybe the biggest lose from last year was not the players but Laidlaw. Plumtree is a world class forward coach but Boyd does not seem to have that higher level nouse needed to turn a good team into a great championship winning team. If he hasn't got it now he will never have it.

What game did you watch. The Canes never looked likely really. Perenara was back to his usual self, botching his clearances. Marshall was no threat what so ever at the back and I hope he stays out of this team moving forward. J Savea was back to his lazy ways and did f all. Jane was average. To top it off the centre pairing was a mistake from the start. Aso should have been 2nd five and Halaholo should have started at centre.

In the forwards Shields looked like an ordinary club player. I rated him when he first came onto the scene but his skillset is way off. He consistantly throws wayward passes and he drops the ball cold on far too many occasions.

The three players that can hold their heads high were Coles, Goodes and A Savea. Probably the only three that deserve to be picked for the A.Bs at this rate.

So disapointing considering the performance of last week. I guess its all too predictable though. Canes always get too cocky and they always let themselves down.

I have to give credit where credits due, the Sharks were far too good and they played the perfect blueprint in beating the Canes. Completely strangled us and took their opportunities superbly.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully we can get back to the Tin and beat the Reda with a bonus. That Highlanders game after the bye could be season defining by the looks.

Not that there are many players left from his era but I wonder if playing against Plum served as motivation on last nights step up in performance.

Poor result for the Canes, dodgy defence is our achilles heal at the moment.

Well done the Sharks, who I see as possible title winners this year.

Players we probably cant afford to lose are Goodes, Coles, A Savea and Barrett. Anyone else is replaceable. Personally I hope one of them was Perenara because I really want to see TTT get a chance.

When I die I hope the Canes lower me into my grave so they can let me down one last time!!

What a way to F$%k up our season. A pretty straight forward game against the Reds is now going to be a struggle.

If we lose this one you can pretty much shut the gate on 2016.

Look on the bright side C4L. We might see a few more guys taking the field for their club teams on Saturday. Having said that I guess those that have been playing club rugby might now be required to suit up for the Canes on Saturday night.

Thinking outside the square some of the non playing personnel do have a strong connection with Durban, it might just be some of them out catching up with some of their mates. Can anyone recall the last time a backroom/support person was stood down for such a misdemeanour?

yeah you'd certainly hope it isn't any of the frontline players, and more so with the media attention the Warriors have had of late.

I guess also knowing the full story will help too, it may have been they were due to be home by say 11 and a group of them rock in at 11.30...maybe a cab didn't turn up, maybe they were having a meal and the service was slow? What are the chances the media find out about the breach of curfew without knowing if there was valid reaons?

That said, the fact it is making 'news', you'd have to assume it is a decent breach of their team rules?

We may finally catch a glimpse of a rare Hurricane breed in Renton and Cridge who haven't been seen since signing for the Canes at the start of 2014. Renton has been playing 7 for OBU in Wellington club rugby, I didn't realize he was an open-side.

It could be very minor, however the expression on Dane's face and his assumption that the team will look very different than normal suggests it is severe or Savea as some would put it.

I didn't either but then again OBU do have a couple of guys on their books that have played at a fairly high level at No 8 (NZ Under 20s?) recently so maybe he is rated below them in terms of selection for that particular club.
