Canes vs Sharks
-

Sharks will win this due to an excellent second half

You won't beat a decent SA team at home if you don't front up in the forwards and find some physical parity

Too much through the middle from Sharks

Enough of talking up these locks who run around in the field if they can't get 99% of their lineout ball. Romano gets the AB nod because of core role execution. Canes LO has been dire

The Sharks will win this having made twice as many tackles, a telling stat. Canes have been hassled all night

Have to stop the rancid Todd baiting. Ardie isn't the second coming by any stretch but he does a lot of really good things that can't be denied

Expect Barrett to have weeks off for concussion - he got his head in the wrong place on a head on tackle with the smallest guy on the field

Coles is awesome all round the field
-

Way too many lineouts botched on the Hurricanes throws, mostly those thrown towards Fatialofa who had the misfortune to knock them towards the Sharks halfback with some regularity. No arguments really, the Sharks were deserving and comprehensive winners.

Sharks defense was immense. The Canes just ran out of ideas a few times even when we had the ball in their 22. Was always going to be a tough assignment (despite what C4L would have you believe) - the Sharks are very tough to beat when they are on the road let alone at home.

Julian Savea is damn lucky he has no competition. At the moment he is putting in one good performance followed by 3 annonymous. We really needed him looking for work around the fringes to help our pack out, but he did nothing all game.

Ardie Savea is great, he's fizzing every game, never shirks away from the physical stuff and could be a great bench option for the ABs this year. -
Oh, and Blade Thomson should be starting ahead of Shields who is barely Super standard these days.
-
Ah poo bum wee.

Vito also went missing, Savea very much on his own at the breakdown. -

Grr, had a whole post that didn't upload so I'll do the short version:

Ardie was great tracking back for that try saver, and in general bloody good, and he's a decent size.

The commentators love the Du Preez twins.

The Canes were like the Chiefs, always looking like they were going to break out yet never being able to. Sharks are a pretty good team.
-
Didn't see 2nd half but IMHO from what I saw in the 1st half, the centres and locks were very ordinary. Not enough penetration and some pretty dodgy defence.

He was poor last weekend poor again this week. This is one of a number of issue with the Canes this year. Why start Shields when he looks in need of a rest and there is a good replacement on the bench

Another obvious poor decision is starting Aso at center. He's a 2nd 5 not a center so if he starts he should start in this position. Poor decision making also cost the Chiefs game for two reasons. One they continue to leave Barrett as kicker when he isn't good enough. And they are shit at clearing the ball from their goal line. And why not do more rotation when players are tired. They are relying on too few squad members and now seem to be paying the price

Its frustrating to watch. Lose when the game plan and selections are sound is acceptable. But last year they were great except in the final. But now they are falling back into Boyd / Plumtree stupidity that occurred too often when these two coached Wellington. Maybe the biggest lose from last year was not the players but Laidlaw. Plumtree is a world class forward coach but Boyd does not seem to have that higher level nouse needed to turn a good team into a great championship winning team. If he hasn't got it now he will never have it.
-

What game did you watch. The Canes never looked likely really. Perenara was back to his usual self, botching his clearances. Marshall was no threat what so ever at the back and I hope he stays out of this team moving forward. J Savea was back to his lazy ways and did f all. Jane was average. To top it off the centre pairing was a mistake from the start. Aso should have been 2nd five and Halaholo should have started at centre.

In the forwards Shields looked like an ordinary club player. I rated him when he first came onto the scene but his skillset is way off. He consistantly throws wayward passes and he drops the ball cold on far too many occasions.

The three players that can hold their heads high were Coles, Goodes and A Savea. Probably the only three that deserve to be picked for the A.Bs at this rate.

So disapointing considering the performance of last week. I guess its all too predictable though. Canes always get too cocky and they always let themselves down.

I have to give credit where credits due, the Sharks were far too good and they played the perfect blueprint in beating the Canes. Completely strangled us and took their opportunities superbly.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully we can get back to the Tin and beat the Reda with a bonus. That Highlanders game after the bye could be season defining by the looks. -

The one on my Foxtel box, as I said they always looked like they were going to do stuff but it never happened.
-
