I don't think Finn Russell's a captain's arse, but fuck me his kicking game is on another level.
Superb vision, if he had a tad more physical ability he'd probably be the best player in the world and a bit less of a knob jockey.
He’s basically Carlos Spencer without the rig

I thought it was a try but also thought it couldn’t be given due to the ref’s wording. “Onfield decision no try, can you see conclusive evidence to say try scored” (paraphrased).
Try? More than likely.
Conclusive? No.If the wording had been different it would likely have been awarded.

Rugby is it's own worst enemy at times. The slow mo kick fest is annoying and the ref and tmo call at the end seemed wrong. Ultra dumb by Scotland in charging one off in that end of match situation though. Always the danger of held up or inconclusive.
I dunno, a kicking duel (as opposed to aimless kicking and interminable box kicking) can be as interesting and good to watch as a scrum battle.
I actually enjoyed the game and some of the skills on display - particularly Fikou & Russell were outstanding.

How is this not conclusive around the 3min mark?
Edit - they both agreed that it was grounded before old mate decided he should try harder to rule it out. Really poor stuff
What more are we looking for??

I understand your view but, taking the emotion out of it an official would be looking at that anyddeciding whether there was any doubt whatsoever in the legality of the grounding/not grounding.
Could there have nee a hand underneath?
Was there a loss of control?
Was there equal downward pressure from French limbs?
Any other things anyone can think of?Like you, I think it was a try but I can easily see why any official would baulk at deciding it was conclusive evidence.
But yeah, the Sweaties were hard done by IMO.

@voodoo nah, I didn't see a shot of the ball on the ground with pressure from the carrier.
It was clear as day. And I have no particular love for the haggis eaters. They got shafted
Show me that clear as day shot and I'll agree.

Fuck, there goes another Grand Slam.
Geez, they’re not that hard to win are they ?
For your boys, yes

It’s around 3mins and beyond in here. They spot the right angle, they agree it’s grounded, then the TMO shockingly changes his mind

Scotland should have won that game twice over in the first half but didn't take advantage of a France looking very Old French without Dupont and Ntamack.
Yeah the last decision is going to be talked about, but don't put it in the ref's hands.
Christ I hate that line of thinking. The old “the ref didn’t cost us, we should have have put it away earlier”. It makes no sense. They did what they had to do to be in a position to win the game and the TMO screwed them. Both teams made mistakes prior to then, it’s called “sport”

Agree on this but also have the view that with the interminable pick and go close to the line against a set defence, the chances of either being held up or putting yourself at the mercy of officiating are pretty high.
But again, that’s sport.
