@KiwiMurph he should have been 10 from the start, Mounga just wasn't cut out to be a test 10 and it was proved in the end
to be clear..BB...who was average at 10 in super rugby...should have started ahead of RM....who was an integral part of the super rugby champions?

I think that Dmac has the potential to be a fantastic number 10, with the only real work-on being his goal kicking accuracy. I'm hoping a season as the starting AB 10 will be exactly what he needs to build confidence of his place in the side and he grows from there.
BB I'm hoping is just an insurance policy as the cupboard is bare after him. His tactical kicking and goal kicking have declined markedly in the last few years and whether he plays at 10 or 15 I hope he spends some time trying to improve these (he appears over the last few years disinterested in taking the primary goalkicking duties for any team).
RM was a great SR player but seemed a little limited at the top level, couldn't quite kick the ball far enough, couldn't quite get his goalkicking % high enough. Sadly in pressure games those 2 things cost you. Wasn't bad and deserved his spot but I certainly wouldn't class him as a great.

D Mac under pressure at First five will be interesting,
I have seen him Panic getting kicks charged down and reverting back to running sideways.
I hope he fixes those things up,as he is way above anyone else we have available now as a First Five option.Next season will be testing for D Mac 2 tests in 2 weeks V SA in SA.
England at home for 2 tests
And a tough end of year tour with potential games. V England,Ireland and France. -

They need to select the right halfback first, (i.e., not Christie). Not having BB throwing a hospital pass would also help.
Yes that all adds to the equation.

I'm on board with the rest of the post but geez, that's pretty out there.
dont think its too crazy an idea that players don't tend to get FASTER as the age...and speed plays a roles in how he creates mismatches
Except that's not what I was talking about.

By your 'logic' none of the team in the last RWC should have been picked-that includes BB.

@KiwiMurph aren't we all a fan of Beauden just needs that 10 jersey, Mounga had 2 World cups in it and lost both in the driver's seat simple as that
Fuck I'm close to creating 10 dummy accounts to upvote this shitloads.
Magic.
Finger-tips to the lips, and... kissy-noise. -

Interesting in his radio interview the only halfback Razor name checked was Roigard.

Of course there's no guarantee at all that SR form will flow into internationals but at least it shows that it's an aspect of his game he's trying to improve.
Given 2024 is set up to be his first year as the main driver of the AB's at 10 I'm putting him in the "a lot to prove, but I hope he'll prove me right" camp.

what were you talking about then because you quoted
He was clearly our best option at 10 this year, but his strengths were his speed and eye for a mismatch in broken play. Those things will not improve over time.

did mcclutchie get a contract in the end?...or does this video talk about people that wont even be playing super rugby next year?
-
@Kiwiwomble Not named in any SR squad, unfortunately. No further news yet.
