Havili or Plummer should get a go at 12 next week.
Is that really the best we can do? A bloke proven not to be the solution or one who finally got time at five-eighth during Super Rugby, winning the title in that position?
You play Plummer at 12 if you want to be able to say "See I tried him and be failed"

Why do that when you can just play him at 10 with Hotham and Havili bracketing?

@Landers92 the money burnside paid him ran out. So he jumped ship straight away to the Cobras.

I have been thinking about the Fihaki selection and I still can't justify it, baffling even to me a Crusaders man.
Selected as a first five, just like Beauden.
And everyone is whining that they're not building depth at 10. Open your eyes guys, geez.

Ohh shit I missed that, lol.

The Fihaki selection is intriguing. If they were after an outside back cover, there is certainly more players ahead based on NPC and Super form such as ENS, Narawa, and Naholo but there might be ? over their availabilities. It was mentioned previously that ENS has been carrying an injury and presumably Narawa is as well after he was scratched from the BOP vs Wellington game. Maybe Fihaki was the best development option available but personally I think they should've opted for a 12 to either push for selection or to develop. Frankly, with Jordie out our options aren't looking healthy. Tupaea or McLeod have both been through injuries and position changes this season but have still been in the All Blacks environment previously, and if looking to develop then Higgins has been one of the form players of the NPC.

@Landers92 yes, for Canterbury he has lots, and at the end of games for Crusaders he's finished there.
Razor in his Crusaders days said he had potential to be a great 12.
I don't rate him that highly.. but he's got a point of difference due to his physical dimensions, similar to a young Jordie - he's filled out a bit more now... also massive boot on the kid - and very long levers providing good offloading platform from 12.
It's not like he's not going to play but he's a good squad pick since he covers 11-15.
You’re drunk. He doesn’t play 12. He predominantly plays winger because he has never been able to nail down the 15 jersey, he’s even been kicked to the wing for Canterbury this year. Interested to hear your take on that one… You’re only kidding yourself by trying to justify him being pulled into the squad when there are multiple better players out there than him mate. End of.
He's only there for squad cover, honestly who gives a flying fuck, I've saved my energy for lamenting the shit selections that Razor is making with his actual 23 and woeful bench management. Fiyaki is simply there to hold tackle bags, this is meaningless in the grand scheme. I'm far more concerned about the direction of this team's attack and defensive structures under the underqualified Super Rugby coaches Holland and Ellison.
Lol you’ve lost it. Stick to the topic. Like Bones and antipodean are implying, the next thing we know is he will be next in line after an injury and gets an undeserved cap. Truth is, he shouldn’t be there but is because of who the coaching group is. That’s the last I’ll say on that haha.

Don't just blame the shop floor. Blame the Directors.
-
The anti Blues forwards bias, and the pro anything Crusader bias, is getting a bit comical now. I really hoped a professional organisation would be above that, but obviously these guys aren't and it's hurting the ABs big time.

What are the second half goals for these coaches? What's happening at halftime in the sheds?
This much average in the 2nd half is on the coaches and leaders.
Did they pick the wrong captain? Barrett is anonymous and looks like he needs a rest.
Our set piece generally falling apart late in the game is a scandal, but they cant pick their third hooker because he’s almost literally got his learn-to-throw stickers on his back window.
Riccitelli would have at least been an option.

Some posters seem to forget we played with 13 men at a key part of the game.
Don't think anyone's forgotten the poor discipline at key parts of the game we've seen creeping back in.
I seem to recall it was a feature of Foster's teams as well.
Which, considering we've gone backwards, kinda proves the point that Robertson (a) isn't the coaching Jesus he was hyped up to be or (b) both are equally good coaches and there's deeper problems.

Would be pretty gobsmacking if a guy who's hardly played needs a rest. But I wouldn't be surprised....trust is pretty low with this coaching group.
Anyway, thank fuck we won! Bledisloe!
Back injury may have had significant impact on conditioning.

We've had this discussion here already, but yeah, given that they were promoting one from the ABXV back to the main squad, it was surprising that they went with a project, rather than promoting another one of the ABXV 2023 hookers (e.g., Riccitelli or Thompson).
However, you have to think it is Ryan who has pushed Bell this far - he was called in on standby for the WC squad last year based on even less, and since then there is not much evidence that he is ready.
But, since he is there, there isn't much reason for him not to be selected ahead of Aumua, who has been terrible.

Going to be a long few years with these poor selections.
I want these guys to be successful, but it is hard to understand what the thinking is - this latest selection is really a bad look towards the growing discussion that there is a Crusaders bias.
Given that they aren't retards, they must know that, and generally think Fihaki is next off the boat, which makes the selection really fucking strange (or inspired, let's hope). He can't hold the FB position in a pretty average Canterbury team and couldn't hold it in a very average Crusaders team. It is hard to argue he's a better winger than anyone currently in the team or Narawa or others and the current gap would actually be at 2nd five.
