If we take Cane and Jordan as given, then to me another lock is a must, so Lord or Darry. The latter is fit, and heavier, so would get my vote, with Lord on standby.
The obvious area to shore up is at 12, and Lam would be worth a look. Tupaea and Poihipi would also have supporters, given Havili is fairly long in the tooth.
My roughy would be to bring in Suafoa, and let LJ go. He's Kaino sized, a lineout target, who can cover lock, and has proven his intestinal fortitude in spades. What’s wrong with Jordie and ALB?
For me we have two test made 2nd 5s ready and made.
As another Ferner has commented, Jordie is the only big, straight running 2nd five in the squad. I really like ALB, but after a hard hitting debut against the Boks he’s been a 12 who uses footwork rather than running hard lines. I think at test level he’s more effective at 13.
See I don’t mind that sort of 12 when we have a 13 that plays direct like Proctor. A combination of different attributes.
its a bit scary that the idea of judging players on how they will work with others around them to make the...."team"...rather than viewing each position individually.....is still so radical for lots of people

@No-Quarter Barrett and McKenzie worked, Mounga and McKenzie worked.
Barrett and Mounga did not work.
I don't think that was a coincidence. McKenzie is the guy who looks to create for others. -

Wonder if Richie Mo may be hanging around the Abs this year with an off field role like he had in Origin 3 with the Blues.
why would he?

He's been doing promotional work in AB gear this year. Is he currently on the payroll? It's very unusual.

he has? the fuck? are we being retconned in to believing this guy was Dan Carter? Toddle off back to Japan champ and practice your kicking.
-
Yeah he's been in a few things. There was a NZR video a few days ago of him, Tele'a, Ioane & Savea visiting CKB and giving some of the fighters AB gear etc

I suspect he will be working behind the scenes in camp.
In what capacity? Giving Holland, Hansen and MacDonald some pointers?

Would not be surprising, very possible someone may buy his contract out. I suspect he will be working behind the scenes in camp.
Reminder: 70% win record with 56 caps
the much maligned Stephen Donald won 78%. And kicked an important goal to win a World Cup. I would rather he was around the camp giving pointers TBH

Like others have said - why? For what reason?
What is an average test 10 not contracted to NZ rugby going to offer in value to an AB team?
Aside from make the actual 10 in the team think "WTF, this dude was a double RWC failure yet they're bringing him in, guess it's time to pad my back account with some more yen".
The dude left, when he knew his bestie coach was taking over the reigns. He shouldn't be anywhere near the ABs.

I recall Beauden and DMac playing really well together in the lead up to the RWC19, but then DMac got that long term injury and it became Mo'unga and BB which didn't work nearly as well.
Fast forward 5 years and DMac is a much better player. BB is getting old but shown he is still quick enough to be dangerous and is finding some good form.
The big surprise for me is Perofeta, and how well he has gone. I think he and BB should alternate the 15 jumper / bench spot, and Jordan should slot into 14 again with Clarke on the left.
You clearly don't know Razor then, his first move if he'd gotten the job over Foster 4 years ago was to install Jordan as the starting fullback & Whitelock as his captain.
What makes you think he'll deviate from that now? Jordan is 10x better at fullback because of his vision / ability to read the game and spot opportunities to inject himself into the play, and his running lines from depth...
his skills are not utilized best on the wing, how many times do we need to tell you this Ian?

ooooh we got an insider here lads.

That concerns me because his play at fullback had gaping holes in performance. The type that spells ruin in Test language.
