@sparky why
Running game, quick pass, gets the ball out fast, and as Rakete-Stones can attest, can hit like a truck.
Yeah ... seriously embarrassment getting smashed like that by a ruck rat (TM @Smuts )
-
Interestingly Fabian Holland heading off to London to play for the Barbarians against Fiji.

In fact with the current injury to Roigard it would be silly not to pick a Ratima- DMac combo
Can be a risk having a rookie 9 start a Test, but on balance I hope you're right. Want to see TJP's experience on the bench in case it does go tits up though.

Too many Chiefs. Only one token makes the squad…

Reckon Ratima played himself into the ABs tonight.

Ratima, Fakatava & Hotham for the halfback positions with Christy next off the rank
Perenara will be picked.
Maybe not after his display today.

Caleb Clarke - 80%
Emoni Narawa - 70% (up)
Etene Nanai-Seturo - 10%Props/loose forwards comes down to which position they select six players in. Thinking like loose forward at the moment, given so many guys are putting their hands up. Someone like Finau could also double as a lock selection.
Sititi obviously played well this weekend but is he a better option than Sotutu? They're remarkably similar players - there might only be room for one.
Feels likely we'll see Perenara, Christie and Ratima as the halves. Roigard comes in for one of Perenara or Christie when he's fit and then ideally one of the other options will get a full run starting in Super Rugby next year.
Outside backs is tough. Reece, Tele'a, Clarke and Narawa all justify selection as wings. Do you select all four and go for just two first five options (Barrett and McKenzie) or bring someone like Plummer in? Maybe a straight shoot-out between Plummer and Love for a spot.
Proctor has done enough all season to justify selection as the fourth midfielder but was struggling towards the end of the game.
-
And for what it's worth, my own personal selection would be:
Hookers - Codie Taylor, Asafo Aumua, Samisoni Taukei'aho
Props - Ethan de Groot, Tamati Williams, Xavier Numia*, Ofa Tu'ungafasi, Tyrel Lomax, Fletcher Newell
Locks - Scott Barrett, Tupou Vaa'i, Sam Darry*, Isaia Walker-Leawere*
Loose forwards - Samipeni Finau, Ethan Blackadder, Dalton Papali'i, Peter Lakai*, Ardie Savea
Halfback - Cortez Ratima*, TJ Perenara, Finlay Christie
First Five - Damian McKenzie, Harry Plummer*, Beauden Barrett
Midfield - Jordie Barrett, Billy Proctor*, Anton Lienert-Brown, Rieko Ioane
Outside backs - Caleb Clarke, Mark Tele'a, Sevu Reece, Ruben Love*Injury cover
Taukei'aho - Tyrone Thompson
Numia - Luke Jacobson (more loosies putting their hands up than props at this stage)
Proctor - David HaviliWith the first team to play England: Barrett, Reece, Lienert-Brown, Barrett, Tele'a, McKenzie, Ratima, Savea, Papali'i, Blackadder, Vaa'i, Barrett, Lomax, Taylor, De Groot. Reserves: Taukei'aho(/Aumua), Numia (/Tu'ungafasi), Newell, Darry, Finau, Christie, Ioane, Love.

A free trip to Europe to visit the family.

I have nothing of value to add to this thread as I haven’t watched a single game of super rugby all year (like that would change anything).
But I just thought I’d mention that I booked seats this morning to the Bled here in Sydney for the whole fam - 3:45pm kick off so looking forward to a late lunch and hopefully some quality footy in the sunshine.
Team must be named soon.

I thought I was bad, I’ve watched two canes games this year and about 3/4 of a blues game.
From that I’ve deduced there’s going to be far too many Chiefs, Crusaders and Highlanders in the ABs for my liking.
