@junior cripple fight in the cricket then
Aus playing too?
-
@Catogrande did they lose to Afghanistan or Netherlands?
-
Word is Smith is out (HIA) and Steward is back
-
@Catogrande That is true. But it is also not really a shock by the Proteas, who are truly world cricket's Jekyll and Hyde team.
-
@MiketheSnow Convenient. Smith was never playing FB.
Steward in at 15, Ford on the bench. Farrell at 10.

“I don’t want to sound arrogant, but that’s where we are going to take some stopping in the World Cup,” Dobson said. “England and then New Zealand or Argentina are going to have to produce a second front row that can live with that. I think we will see more of that tactic now from South Africa, if you have a superior scrum then scrum more.
“In the game against Ireland, did New Zealand put the ball into the scrum? It was a remarkable game."
Yes john, NZ did put the ball in. 5 times in fact.
“Look, I don’t think it’s England,” Dobson answered when asked which remaining team South Africans fear most. “I don’t know what you do to stop the South Africans now, with that scrum, maul. It’s tricky.
“Ox Nche, the Springboks’ number 17, is going to be the player of this World Cup. He is just going to do so much damage in these next two games.
“New Zealand is the team we fear most, but can then produce something similar to what they did against Ireland? Can they cope with that second front row? It’s tricky, I think.
“Please don’t think I am an arrogant South African, but it’s ours to lose after Sunday night, I feel.”
Best not lose to England then

I’d prefer to see England win this one. It’d be great for them to make the final after all the crap they’ve been through in the last 12 months or so.
I'd like that result because Bokke fans.

@booboo I know a fair few Bok fans. Pretty level headed for the most part. Patriotic, love their team and have confidence in them.
Every country has their fair share of dickheads. SA is no different.
What sometimes sounds like arrogance is IMO bravado - deep down, there is fear. The Boks are an escape for many in SA; a chance to escape the corruption, the decay, the harshness of life that is for many no fault of their own. They are a team their supporters believe in and that unity is powerful.
Do they have a great team currently? Yes. Do they go overboard at times? Yep. But when life throws you lemons, sometimes your sporting teams are all you have left to cling to.

No change for the boks
South Africa team to face England
Damian Willemse; Kurt-Lee Arendse, Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende, Cheslin Kolbe; Manie Libbok, Cobus Reinach; Steven Kitshoff, Mbongeni Mbonambi, Frans Malherbe; Eben Etzebeth, Franco Mostert; Siya Kolisi (c), Pieter-Steph du Toit, Duane Vermeulen.
Replacements: Deon Fourie, Ox Nche, Vincent Koch, RG Snyman, Kwagga Smith, Faf de Klerk, Handré Pollard, Willie Le RouxHave to say I am really surprised by the team selection for 2 key reasons:
-
That team had to dig really deep against the French and psychologically I worry that they can get up to that level again so soon.
-
There must be a fatigue element from that last game.
For both of the above, I would have gone with a fair few fresh faces who IMO wouldn't be inferior to the selected incumbents. Physically and Psychologically I just think they would be better options on the day.
But then that is based on my ZERO years of international coaching experience - so what do I know...
-
-
@Billy-Webb maybe they're banking on an easy final...
-
Hey Seffrican peeps (even though I hope you lose and have posted such elsewhere) how do you pronounce RG as in Snyman?
Commentator on the world feed (Rupert Cox I think) was giving it the gutteral treatment, but I couldn't really pick up what it was.
I see "RG" and prounoce "Aah" "Jee".
Can you give us a English speaking guide?
Thanks.

Yeah... that's what worries me. An over-correction.
But to be honest, I expect him to be better than that.you expect him to be better than what you expect him to be?
