Only takeaway from the 2nd half was
Why do we have no pace on the wing? Created so many overlaps that guys couldn't take advantage of because they were being run down and felt the need to cut in.
I'm not too worried about the penalty count given old mate piercey was really only reffing one team today (which is fine, they needed the help, and we needed the practice)
Was the cover defence still there? I'm not sure the space was enough out wide because we didn't consistently go up the guts to drag the defence in and create more
-
Lol deep "DMac made errors" unlike the encumbents that are always spotless
He probes for holes
He puts defences in their heels
He puts guys in gaps (but we are shit at hole running)
His wide pass is faster than his competitors
He kicks further than they do as wellI see no reason if we are going to play flat out football why he isn't the first choice.
Also, BB seems to defer to him, let's him play 10, and BB plays fullback, and it fucking works.

Namibia not holding weight
AB forwards got played like a fiddle in that scrum. Oldest trick in the book and they should’ve been more patient.

If Aaron smith wasn’t called Aaron smith and his rugby skills were inserted onto another body (not called Aaron smith) for the last year.
Would Roigard start over that player

Nope. Smith brings unrivalled speed and accuracy of pass, which the All Blacks main gameplan is built around.

He would be first cab off the rank, with Brad Webber in 3rd...

So, Roigard scores a brilliant 70m individual try against the Boks, is man of the Match in his 1st start. And Christie is bloody average at best.
Let's see just how stubborn Foster is.
If he picks him, it's a tacit admission, he got it wrong by persisting with Christie. -

I guess the other thing to remember is of course, the original hypothetical is silly, because Smith's experience and years of quality for the All Blacks undoubtedly means he should be starting.

Discipline is still a massive worry. 12 penalties conceded against a poor side like Namibia is a terrible stat.
Not sure why this continues to be an issue. Perhaps the coaches are far too nice and the players don't fear them. Drop serial offenders for a game and I bet they don't do it again. Whatever it is they better fix it fast.
Because foster thinks their discipline is fine, even good
“We knew people expected us to win, and sometimes those games can get loose on you and you can start searching for stuff. I liked the discipline. It came off the platform of doing some basic stuff consistently well up front.
12 penalties to 7, and a red card versus tier 3 side is pleasing discipline in the foster zone
-
@Machpants maybe they expected 18?

Maybe he was referring to them being disciplined enough to stick with a game plan and not throw it around willy nilly?

We needed that performance after two poor outings against the Boks and French. AB’s were accurate and methodical. They were controlled even when racking up a big score. No helter skelter rugby, kept largely to structure.
Some good performances too - Roigard although his passing needs improvement, DMac and Leicester were my pick. No real standout in the pack, they all seemed to stick to their roles.
I think Roigard may have pushed ahead of Christie in that performance. Did anyone else notice DMac, Beaudy had to dip low to scoop up some of Roigard’s passes? They seemed to hit them either low or chest height.
DeGroot is a worry. No malicious intent but more sloppy. Just brushed the head of Namibian player who clearly hurt his shoulder in the collision.

The same article mentioned David Havili was a “bright spark” in midfield.
Against a team with a World Cup 259 points for 1388 against record…..21 games without a win but a weather effected draw with Canada in 2019.
