I played at club level where we put 427 on them and bowled them out for 45.
You could have played for India, Sameer!
-
So the decision by SL to bowl first was a good one for the fans, because then at least they got to see one full innings of play.
Had they batted first it would have all been over in 25 overs.

I'm not sure the fans would have cared. Most of them are supporting India. They'll take bowling out the opposition in two overs for 0 and then a first-ball 6 to win.
-
@NTA The first ball 6 is a bit extravagant - I'm sure they'd settle for a first ball wide down the leg side as well.
Ironically that would be an even worse defeat as they'd win the game having faced 0 legitimate deliveries...
-
Oz in a bit of early trouble. 61/2 after 13 overs.
Wee Davey and Travis both out cheaply.
With Max having fallen out of a golf cart and Mitchmarsh gone home, that's their top four batsmen at the tournament out of commission in this game.
Need plenty from those needing some form.
-
Fucking knew it. Fucking Poms. Choke all tournament on a big bag of sweaty camel dicks, then come good for us.
-
That's a relief. Low scoring game
-
Crikey. Just saw the India - SA result...

And?

-
Still in disbelief that we won the toss and asked South Africa to bat first…
-
-
Hah brilliant. First time ever in ODIs. Mathews given out without facing a ball for not being ready to face within 2 minutes. Helmet strap issue.
-
What a dick move by Shakib.

Spirit of Cricket again right?
Mankad, Bairstow, Mathews. All in the laws. Timing out without deliberate delay is tough - but arguably your only job as a professional is to get to the crease ready to play.
Legal, but a bit shitty is my take. And England can FRO - they didn't withdraw a runout appeal after Elliott ran into Collingwood a few years ago. Spirit of cricket is so bloody nebulous.
I have no idea any more honestly.
-
There's video of the wicket here:
-
I always figured the intent of the rule was to catch out a middle/lower order batter who scuttled down to the servo to grab a pie, without anticipating a top order collapse. Not so much what happened to Angelo.
But I guess when it takes you 1 min 55 secs to get out to the middle to start with, you're risking trouble. Especially given the already slow over rates in international cricket.

On that basis, I wish it happened to England.
-
Shakib is a fuckwit (which I thought prior to this) and I think it's a the wrong call to appeal, but I can't hold it against him too much.
The thing that annoys me about this is that if he'd faced one ball and then had the strap break he'd have been allowed to fuck around as long as he needed to get it right. Needs more consistency.
-
If Bangladesh could have made the semis, I could have got behind the decision easier. They cant, so I'm surprised they went ahead with it. However it is still within the rules no matter how ugly it looked.
-
@bayimports Win helped with qualification into Champions Trophy. Bangles now (currently) sit in the last qualifying position.

Hasn’t he heard of Viv Richards or Richie Richardson ?
Pussy.
But yeah, easy for us to criticise from our armchairs but surely he could have gone out to the middle and THEN fucked around with his strap for as long as he wanted ?
Shit situation, if he’d cracked a massive score then Hasan might be held accountable.
-
The rule is be ready to face a ball, so even if he was in his crease if he's standing around waiting for a new helmet he'd still be given out.
The stats nerd in me is glad it's finally happened though, I believe every form of dismissal has now happened in international cricket.

Afghanistan had Aussies on the ropes at 7/91. Big Show is smacking it around (with some luck). Cummins just trying to survive and hold down an end.
Aussies are 7/183 after 32
-
This is phenomenal stuff from Big Show
-
Annnnnd Afghanistan take choke of the year award by a country mile
Actually that's at least the millennium.
-
Astonishing stuff from Maxwell. Scores a double ton to win the match. Basically his second hundred was with his body in full cramp mode. The no feet movement hitting was superb.
Afghanistan choke does the Black Caps a favour….
-
hell of an innings and hell of a way to finish it. 201 off 128, including 10 sixes
-
Several records in that chase - highest chase at that ground; highest total by an Aussie at a CWC
-
Just realised, partnership was 202 runs off of 170 balls and Cummings used 68 of them to score 12…
-
@Dodge amazing stats all round

Did I hear it's the highest amount of runs in a winning chase after the second wicket has fallen?
-
-
Just watched the highlights of his innings, cramp looked horrendous - how the hell did he play those shots without moving his feet?!

He's awesome. @MN5 I think the nickname was initially ironic (you'd hope so) but he is an incredible talent. Wow.
He’s certainly a very “modern” cricketer that’s for sure.
I do wonder what Geoffrey Boycott thinks of these kind of innings though.

Wow!
Marty Crowe was ahead of his time with Cricket Max!
Phenomenal stuff - might have kept us in the tournament as well!

Cricket Max had potential. I liked the idea of a guy failing but getting a chance to atone in the second innings ON THE VERY SAME DAY.
Four wickets was fucken dumb though. It looked so wrong.
