Astonishing stuff from Maxwell. Scores a double ton to win the match. Basically his second hundred was with his body in full cramp mode. The no feet movement hitting was superb.

Afghanistan choke does the Black Caps a favour….

hell of an innings and hell of a way to finish it. 201 off 128, including 10 sixes

Several records in that chase - highest chase at that ground; highest total by an Aussie at a CWC

Just realised, partnership was 202 runs off of 170 balls and Cummings used 68 of them to score 12…

Did I hear it's the highest amount of runs in a winning chase after the second wicket has fallen?

Crumbs, getting a double ton in an ODI batting six really is an amazing effort. Hats off.

I still can’t stand his nickname though, especially when someone else had it first

Just watched the highlights of his innings, cramp looked horrendous - how the hell did he play those shots without moving his feet?!

He's awesome. @MN5 I think the nickname was initially ironic (you'd hope so) but he is an incredible talent. Wow.

He’s certainly a very “modern” cricketer that’s for sure.

I do wonder what Geoffrey Boycott thinks of these kind of innings though.

    Wow!

Marty Crowe was ahead of his time with Cricket Max!

Phenomenal stuff - might have kept us in the tournament as well!

Cricket Max had potential. I liked the idea of a guy failing but getting a chance to atone in the second innings ON THE VERY SAME DAY.

Four wickets was fucken dumb though. It looked so wrong.

Pay him no mind. he doesn’t know his arsehole from his elbow when it comes to cricket.

In fact the only near choking was me when I first saw him comment on a cricket thread !

actually to be fair, I have to agree with his statement. Not trying to belittle Maxi's effort because that was amazing, but Afghanistan should have either been trying to get him off strike and continue to take wickets at the other end. Didn't do either really from a commanding almost unlosable position.

Reminds me a bit of the BCs playing Pakistan, everyone knows a certain centurion cant play the offside yet we continued to bowl at his stumps

@bayimports having watch the match from start to finish there is no doubt the pressure got to the Afghanistan bowlers, fielders and captain. Their inability to bowl the right line and length to Cummins and actually force him on to the front foot was baffling.

Nothing should be taken away from Big Show’s innings and his shot making would have any captain in a twist on how to set a field, but Cummins faced almost 70 balls and they didn’t do enough there.

As soon as it got to about 70 runs to go, you could see the noose getting tighter and that’s with Big Show falling on the ground in pain…
