Still scratching my head in disbelief that compared to a year ago we have some devastating wingers, a solid 2nd five, RM and SF fulfilling their potential, Sco Bar Beast mode activated and a front row.
By crikey the gods are smiling. To quote @ACT-Crusader its just Australia
I think the jerk off around here has got a bit out of control, let’s see how we go once we see France and the other NH teams.
I'm not sure anyone is that bullish right now mate. But I think we can rightfully feel more confident about our chances in France after winning those three games. It's still a huge ask to win Bill back
-
There's no room for sentimentality with the All Blacks, but I expect Nuggie will be given the opportunity to play this weekend, which means only one of Christie and Roigard will have another chance to impress. I expect they know everything about Christie so hopefully they'll want to see more of Cam.
Cane will be back, so the chance is there for another backrower to take the field. Hopefully this means Finau gets quality time. From SR form he's just the sort of player we need to back up Frizell.
With the depleted propping stocks in the Wallabies, hopefully WIlliams gets a gig.
I'd like to see Beauden rested (even thought he's playing into form again now he's out of the Blues) and Jordan at fullback, with DMac another chance at 10.
We also need to see if we can perform with Scott on the field.
-
If Foster is willing to make a few changes and give a few guys with lesser minutes some gametime then we'll presumably see something like:
1 Tu'ungafasi
2 Taukei'aho
3 Laulala
4 Retallick
5 Whitelock
6 Jacobson
7 Cane
8 Savea
9 Smith
10 Mo'unga
11 Fainga'anuku
12 Barrett
13 Lienert-Brown
14 Narawa
15 McKenzie16 Coles
17 Williams
18 Newell / Lomax
19 Lord / Vaa'i
20 Finau
21 Roigard
22 McLeod / Ennor
23 Jordan -
Ooh I just realized there is still another 7 I'd like to see tested at AB level, big test or little test. Shame it won't happen though.

I think we've got every right to be confident, don't forget South Africa is in that trio of wins.
So yeah, let's see how the lesser ranked teams go against us...

@BerniesCorner Happy days, the possibility of injuries and the French being awesome are the main concerns.
Not the Irish?
I think if they win their QF they will win the cup.
-
@MajorPom I think the Irish are similar in quality to the Springboks. Either of them could win the tournament but a lot will need to go right for them.
It’s the French, especially at home, I’m more worried about. So many quality players and so many different ways they can play. Dangerous with a capital D.

Why the fuck is Tupou travelling? His ribs are shot. He could barely run after the last scrum he was involved in, and barely get up after that last hit he took.
Not to mention he should be sitting out a few games...
Plus just quietly I thought he looked overweight to me anyway, even trotting onot field he looked sluggish.
-
Still think the mindset for this game is to crush the Wallabies. Can’t lose it. One more game, then it’s the B team vs Boks in London. Nobody will care about the result there as it’s just a money game. Wallabies at home in Aaron’s final home game matters though. Turn up for France in the group then they can rotate the rest of the pool stages.

23 JordanI think Foster does not consider ALB as a centre but rather as a 2nd five. If Rieko is rested, then it would be for making room for Ennor.
Jacobson + Cane + Savea look too small for a back row, IMO. Finau or Vaa'i could be the "6", with Jacobson on the bench. -

No, that's not the abs attitude. It's the boks, they might take more risks, but they will still care. The same reason that foster is not coach going forward, winning the RWC use great, and the pinnacle, but you can't just be shit in between them.
There won't be too much experimentation, as the abs will have to hit the ground running versus Frances in the next one. There is likely to be a few more versus Oz, as they are an easier beat, imo
-
@Jailbreak7 I actually think it is better if they start Roigard and then Aaron comes off the bench to finish the game, reckon that is better than him sitting on the bench for the final however many minutes of his swansong in Dunedin!

Yep. This whole "don't care about the result" thing is the antithesis of what the ABs have always been about. Every game should matter, regardless of the stakes. Even if we win the RWC, all those limp dick losses to Argentina and Ireland will still be a stain on the record. Way too much focus is placed on the RWC. Rugby isn't fŭcking soccer with friendlies and all that shjt.

Because Eddie has once again said the players aren't fit enough.
Every Wallaby coach had said this for the last decade, and nothing improves at provincial or individual level.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Not saying the guys wearing the jersey won’t care, of course they will. If they lose 32-21 Fozzy won’t be losing sleep over it. But let’s call it what it is - a money game. It’s a hope there’s no injuries and give everyone a run out game. It’s week 4 of NFL preseason. The guys on the field are trying, but the coaches and everyone else ain’t bothered.

Week 4 of NFL preseason? No offence, but you clearly don't get it. You're a Bok supporter right?

Hate to break it to you , but I care. I care about every test, don't get too upset about results, but I genuinely care about them all, and I guessing most rugby followers do!
-
I’d love to see Jacobson get more game time especially if Blackadder isn’t ready yet. I don’t think Jacobson has the size to start at 6/8 against the big teams but he’s a great squad/bench option due to his versatility. IMO he’s the best defensive 6/8 we have in terms of accuracy and efficacy.
-
Scott Barrett has actually been the best lock the entire season. I think his performance at lock means he won't go to 6.
Going forward, I think Retallick will become the impact lock with Whitelock and Barrett starting.
I hope they give Lord more minutes next week.
