Hurricanes 2024

It could be worse. He leaves the canes and moves south.
But hopefully it doesn't happen. I really enjoy watching him play. A joy to watch. The opposite to Booth
And unsure what TJ will be like when or if he returns

@SouthernMann I normally would aswell but losing Roigard is like receiving a kick in the face. Especially considering I’ve been blatantly backing him all year.
How would you feel if it was a young Wellington player who left with their paths blocked at the Canes. Went elsewhere. Rumours swirled he was going back. You'd say he was our player, grew up supporting us. He will look forward to coming home. It is all swings at roundabouts. There is very few loyalties in profesional sport
It's not true. Most top players stick with their initial team unless they move overseas BBBR is one example.
I hope we keep Roigard. For one he's only one of three ABs for 2024. But he's a special talent. His kicking game is outstanding. He could be the AB starting HB for years to come.
It would also reflect poorly on him if he leaves. An individual with no sense of loyalty. Not what I want in an ABs
Jesus, you're laying it on a bit thick. Maybe he isn't happy and wants to return home like Lomax?
Also, he's owed his spot in the Canes to Booth breaking his leg, and now continued game time to TJ being out indefinitely. If TJ wasn't injured what would his season have been like? Likely off the bench.

From a NZ rugby perspective. Him staying is what the perfect model for a position looks like. The top five players in the position starting for each franchise. Roigard, Christie, Fakatava, Hotham and Ratima. Clearly the top five halfbacks. All in different franchises. No one hoarding talent.
-
@SouthernMann yeah but now Ratima and Roigard will be at the Chiefs and the Canes will be left with a big hole to fill. Perenara isn't the answer, he's pretty much at the end of his career in NZ.

What I said was that if he stayed with the Hurricanes. It is the perfect model for NZ Rugby. The model that is best for rugby is one where talent is well distributed.

@SouthernMann got yah, yes it would have been ideal.
-
@Canes4life George never said Roigard or where he was going. I will wait until movements are confirmed. Hopefully Roigard is like DC not BB

Why would Roigard go anywhere else? He's thriving at the Canes.
May be his mum is a great cook. Plus, even Hamilton would be a step up compared to working in Trentham.
-
@SouthernMann yeah but the facilities are the best in New Zealand now so atleast that's a drawcard. He can always choose to live in the city though which in comparison to Hamilton... well there's no comparison.. you can't beat Welly on a good day.

It would be strange to see Ratima and Roigard in the same 23 as two left-footed halfbacks. The Chiefs will definitely need a replacement for Weber, and I don't know Roe's contract status.
Why is this an issue? The majority of teams have two right footers. Bizarre from a percentages point yes, but strange from a tactical point (if this is what you mean) I don't think so.

Purely from a statistical POV as there aren't many amongst the 15 halfbacks in the SR squads. TJP being one of the others, so there has been that combo with Roigard.

Crazy rumour just in, will only hint but can't give it away completely. The Canes will be wearing a shade of yellow next year. Keep it in the down low.
Only for less than half the games tho, gotta sell the alt strip

Oh I see. I thought you meant weird tactically... certainly a weird anamoly.
