@Tim interesting about the development pathways, but that seems to be something everyone knows anyway.

Then he launches into the old COVID and not enough variety excuses to try and absolve himself from his results. Covid was world wide.

    Lautoka

Anyone know why most of the games are in Lautoka rather than Suva?

Is Lautoka more of a rugby area than Suva? or is it more that Nadi is easier to fly to?

I do remember the commentators saying during one of the Drua home games that Lautoka was hotter and more humid than Suva so perhaps they are maximising their home advantage.

I know I am getting a bit long in the tooth but what does Applied Performance Science mean in everyday terms that is easy for old buggers to understand?

I assume it is sports science? Like as in looking at player loads for injury prevention.

    Stuff
Super Rugby finally has a dedicated board – well almost – and is about to go to market for a chief executive it wants to be the face of the competition. Now it just needs to “reignite the flame” and engage fans at the level required in the modern sporting environment.

And the message from new Super Rugby Pacific chairman, and highly credentialed Kiwi marketeer, Kevin Malloy, New Zealand Rugby boss Mark Robinson and his Australian equivalent Phil Waugh after a fruitful day “whiteboarding” as the new board was that they have the basis for a competition that can soon return to its glory days.

It was very much an upbeat and confident message being propagated by the trio of powerbrokers as they fronted the media at NZ Rugby HQ, with Malloy making it clear the blueprint for success lay very much around its ability to engage with and sustain the attention of its fans.

    @KiwiMurph

A definite step in thew right direction

The first step was getting rid of the fool running Aussie rugby. Thats now been done

2nd step is to set up a new super rugby board with competent board members. Hopefully this will be done. one key step for this Board will be to find a competent CE.

Finally, the teams must be evened out in some way. One team always winning and weak Aussie teams is a disaster that will mean super rugby will slowly die. My view is Aust must reduce teams. And NZ must find a way to more fairly allocate player talent

The future could be great. A dedicated board is one key step

While the ATO is demanding its directors pay up, the club’s chairman, Paul Docherty, insists the team is financially viable.

How about if there are significant injury breaks (30s) then the player has to go off, and they have to have two weeks off as a minimum stand-down period.

Even better, ban replacements altogether except for injury, with the same two week stand-down period.

Finals games would need something different ...
