Is there an EPL 2022/2023 thread…?

Anyone else reckon Klopp might end up fired at Liverpool?

    No. Zero possibility.

Klopp is to Liverpool what Henry was to NZ. A devoted fan base with almost a divine right yo be the best. He gave them that. He’s basically immortal.

Mid table and continuing losses might change things. But not this season

Don't think so. Change of title needed

He'll walk before he gets fired. Anyone else would be a downgrade - the owners, players and fanbase all know this.

I have a feeling this might the final season for both Klopp and Pep.

Spurs were relatively comfortable in victory this morning after City again handed them a first half goal. The method of playing City is clear, keep the middle congested and give them the flanks - never allow them to pass through you. Then when you break, break with numbers. Pep is fiddling with the formation but most of the play is so ponderous, the strikers are starved of service. When they inevitably get knocked out of the UCL, I can see Pep giving up.

Not sure Klopp will have the appetite to rebuild Liverpool. The old chaos style of play is now looking stale for these players and good teams can tear their defence apart. Again I think Klopp might call if a day at the end of the season.

With Everton, there were only ever 2 outcomes to that game v Arse - lose heavily or win by a single goal scored by an ex-Burnley player.

astounding to think that team was, 8 months ago, playing for every trophy available.

The form of a handful of players has fallen off a cliff at the same time, especially through the midfield (which in turn makes the defence look bad, not that they are playing well either).

It very much does look like this team has run its course.

City in deep deep shitski with financial rules. Looks like it's been a long term systematic thing as opposed to just a simple breach.

    Interesting few weeks ahead here.

Regardless of how it plays out, this will surely cause some settlement issues in the City camp and may well hinder results.

Something similar came up with UEFA a couple of years ago and they were given a 2 year ban - later overturned. Would expect this to fester for a quite a while.

football's FFP rules are fucking bullshit anyway, designed to protect clubs that were good in the 90s from the "new rich"

Fair play has absolutely nothing to do with it.

was just reading about what might (probably not) happen, even 2 points per season would hand a couple of titles to liverpool and another to Man u

would be very strange for liverpool, one title during covid and then another couple retroactive

@Kiwiwomble Isn't it only up to 2018? So Mourinho might get another league title?

@KiwiPie the article i read on the BBC said the allegations were right back to when Man City was bought so like the 09/10 season

City have been charged with allegedly breaking financial rules over a nine-year period, between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons.

@Kiwiwomble The most surprising aspect is that the EPL has financial rules.

FFP is now being bypassed with these long contracts - expect that to be clamped down on soon. Not that it will make any difference.

Now that the EPL is basically buying up nearly all the good players in Europe as European clubs cannot compete in transfer fees or wages, it does look like a bubble that is waiting to burst. Forest have spent so much money and that can only be justified by remaining in the EPL long term - relegation could destroy them in any season. And players on long contracts who under-perform cannot be moved on as only other EPL clubs can afford their wages and they will have enough players on long contracts already. Bournemouth and Southampton have spent up in this window to gamble on staying up. And even if they do, next season they probably won't.
