I think I was the only one not overly impressed with McLeod. Like he didn't fuck things up when he came on
Without being sarcastic in any way, that's a big improvement over some of the midfield crap we've put up with in recent years

The All Blacks account just posted this "highlights reel" of big Leicester on YouTube. Would they do that if he didn't make the squad? Or shouldn't we read anything into that post?
It would be hard to leave Leicester out after that. From what I’ve seen so far I’d start Telea at 11. So if role for last spot is off bench, with LF’s versatility it could be Clarke who misses out.

@Machpants The guy or gal pressing the "publish" button won't, but their media manager might. If you look at the social media in a week before a game, you can with a reasonable amount of certainty guess who'll be named. I may be wrong, but I don't think that's any different now. There's a lot of coordination going on. Wait and see.
-
@Bones he made about 2 meters on the run before going straight to ground. Woohoo. Nothing wrong with what he did on that play, but you're making it out to be a lot more than what it was on that play.
As I said, he didn't fuck up when he came on, but he was hardly anything special when he came on at the same time. If that was Havili doing that, people would be ripping him out, similar to the LF v CC debate where if CC had dropped the ball over the line like LF did, the whole forum would have jumped on him.
-
@African-Monkey With 4 runs for 1 metre, you might be right. That particular play just struck me as very Jordie. I'll have another watch of the game later to check.

Asafo Aumua in a moon boot from a post on Instagram. Not sure the extent of the injury but it begs the question, if he’s out, who’s next in line if any of the current AB hookers go down?

@pakman said in All Blacks 2023:
The serious point here is that AB backline functions best with a big body at 12, allowing the option of just trucking the ball up and resetting. Other than Jordie who can fill the bill?
You can see why they have some interest in Aumua.
TUG would be a good player for them to look at, if he is ever not injured for long enough.
More likely, Tupaea can do that role, but not with quite the same impact.

A million miles from international quality. His defence is terrible.
Going down that road though, whose isn't?

The 3 other hookers in the AB XV were Tyrone Thompson, Riccitelli and George Bell.

I’d take Goodhue ahead of Havilli or McLeod. Did the Japan tour count for nothing: he was the stand out?

There was a certain sizeable and older blues player but he may not have impressed them in his brief showing.

Speaking of utility midfielders, Nankivell? Not popular on here though it seems..

Too many rocks in the bag of diamonds. He needs to reduce his error rate.
