Thing is that he is going past 'a few good games'. He is showing consistency week in week out and, more importantly, throughout time on field from opening to being subbed.
Fakatava for example has been hot and cold. Some good stuff, some average.
If I was a selector the thing I would notice most is the consistent high performance and no flat patches during games.

@Crucial plus fakatava has an injury cloud over him, not like he currently has a niggle...but having just come back and having chosen not to have surgery...i feel its kind of in the back of the mind

@Crucial yes ok I'm just saying I do like him but they will only take 3 locked in all 3 unless injuries just like seevu he probably out of contention so gives Stephenson great chance and will Jordan hearing probably gone for not all but most season at this stage so rule him out also but the hooking role will b very interesting

Not to say that by season end he won't be firing on all cylinders. though.
If he is then there will be some real decisions to be made.
One thing about Smith, Christie and Weber is that they are from a similar mould. Smaller, fast, but don't have a line crack that often.
Fakatava offers difference in that you can never give him a tiny space because he might have you backpedalling. Probably a bit more robust in contact as well. Roigard and Ratima sit somewhere between the two. Both have an eye for a chance.
As a selector do you want like for like replacements to keep gameplans consistent or do you want to mix things up?

    Christie and Weber

these 2 offer a running game that Aaron doesnt, well at least doesnt use very much, so much of our play is so easy to defend because his next play is most often easy to read; pass it or kick it

I was questioning the fact you had him at 8th. Look, if they don't pick Roigard this year, I get it. Other, more experienced halfbacks are also playing really well atm, but to me Roigard looks like a player suited to test rugby. His kicking is sound, his pass is fast and accurate, he makes smart choices and he's a consistent game driver.

I don't think that at test level they use it much more than Smith. I don't know if that is because of the increased risk of being turned over or because of gameplan. All three can snipe but not to the level of Fakatava. Roigard and Ratima do their running when on the front foot more like an inside back than a halfback 'snipe'

of course, i just feel he might have to prove himself even more than some of the others of overcome any doubts people having in his fitness, they might opt for less potential for less risk of injury

Now I'm really worried. Not only are NZR incompetent but they are illiterate leakers as well.

Fakatava on defence has been compared to a 4th backrower. There's no other halfback in NZ like him who can make turnovers/jackals like he does; only Perenara comes close in that respect. IIRC Fakatava started learning that already at Hastings Boys' by training with the loosies.

One thing I like about Roigard is his box kicking. It's very effective. He consistently kicks well.

Fakatava by comparison has a lot of improvement to go in that regard.

He also has a big boot which he used to kick from his 22 to halfway last weekend
