Ardie at 7!
Stats in Rounds 1-4 of the current Rugby Championship, among all four nations:
First in number of ball carries [51] *
First in run metres gained by a forward [275 metres]
First in off-loads
Second in dominant tackles on defence
Fourth in breakdown pilfersSecond Lineout takes for ABs
(*) Samisoni second 40, "...about two-thirds of Ardie Savea’s metres are made after first contact with the defender(s), so he and Samisoni are ‘YAC (yards after contact) merchants’ for real. It makes for a punishing inside running combination."

I'd like to see Dalton given a crack at the starting 7 jersey. He was excellent for the ABs last year, and was probably the most influential player in SR. He hasn't been so effective off the bench this year for the ABs but I think with Cane out this is a good opportunity for him to show what he can do at this level. I'm not convinced Ardie would even want to play u again.

Also keen to see that, Ardie to captain.

Yeah, the back row got well beaten last week.
I think we were all a bit disappointed with Hoskins, although given the lack of game time, that's to be expected. Papali' has a similar story to tell after Cane went off but I guess the same can apply. And as I've alluded to plenty of times Scott Barrett should never ever be picked at 6 again. The man's a great lock, our current best lock, but is in no way ahead of either of Ioane or Frizell at 6.
I'd pick Ioane, Ardie & Papali this weekend to start with Frizell on the bench (if he's available). For all of Ioane's detractors, he has consistently performed against Australia.

Second in dominant tackles on defence
I started laughing and found the offending article. The one where they call Ardie the "Samoan-born Hurricane". https://www.rugbypass.com/news/the-all-blacks-cant-afford-to-lose-ardie-savea/

Huh, really? I thought he had a decent game and showed why he's worth persevering with. Hit contact hard for a guy that's been out so long and showed a grind I didn't know he had. Plus those handling skills bring a whole lot of opportunity to those around him.
It's just a shame I immediately contracted a sniper to execute him, after he put in the grubber.

He was part of a back row that got dominated, in my view.
I'm not saying to write him off. Fart from it.

Nice. That might be a new TSF word replacement

Hopefully a finals mentality, not semi finals mentality
What does that even mean, should you not be mentally right for every game? Do you play better with a final's mentality? Has that been our problem all year, we just didn't have a finals mentality?
Foster's ABs are normally happy with losing cos learnings and excitement for the next one. He says it all the time, I am not acutally joking, sadly
Umm
Yeah

I was far from disappointed is what I'm saying. He went better than I thought he would.

I would assume finals mentally = low risk rugby so expect the forwards to have a good ding dong battle and the backs to not do any stupid stuff. Of course it will be the exact opposite and expect the Wobs to get at least one intercept break that may be a try.

Thats fine. We don't need to agree on everything. I felt he was ineffective at ruck times, barely made the gain line & his decision to chip with players in support was awful. The fact that 49 people voted in the MOTM thread and nobody picked Sotutu at all is where I was coming from with my "we".
Basically, it was a huge drop off from Ardie.
Which I found disappointing as that Aussie back row was hardly scary. Decent, but nothing to be worried about. I'm happy to attribute most of that due to lack of game time btw.

@MajorRage geez, if you're not in the top 3 players, you're disappointing? Interesting take.
I think it's a fair thing to say when 15 of 23 players (including many non-starters) get votes in the MOTM poll that TSF is disappointed with those starters who didn't get any votes.
Thats my take.

I think that's an extremely weird and wrong take. That's not what a MOTM poll is for. Especially when people throw votes in just because favourites or to fuck with things. You think Christie is deserving of a vote? All it does is give a good reflection of the top 3, not the disappointments. You want the DOTM poll.
My take is derived from the distinct lack of volume of posts regarding just how disappointing Sotutu was.
