Do we have a depth issue at wing? The MAB are struggling and we were planning on playing a 15 there and have shafted JB in the past. Clarke is far from match fit, leaving Reece as our specialist winger? Guess we could always bring back Bridge. ๐ŸŽฃ

if we do i think its self made, we've favoured a free flowing and interchangeable back three for years rather than a winger as a weapon or tool to be unleashed by the playmakers

There's been quite few identified wingers that have failed to fire over the last few years or haven't impressed enough yet to get excited about. ENS, Fihaki, Kini Naholo, Nareki, Dawai, Tikoisolomone, Narawa, Rayasi...

You'd think that out of all those names someone would be setting the world alight. Maybe there is something in coaching tactics not allowing wings to be wings.

Telea is about the only other wing in the country I'd have near the ABs at the moment.

@KiwiMurph If Clarke's up to play, then yeah that will be a strong back line. I'd love to see this

    lol i love AB fans

We have Jordan, Reece, and Clarke, players very much to top tier international talent. And that's with the long established left wing now a centre. 3 players and an emergency for two positions

But yeah, we have a depth problem because there isn't another top level winger or two just ready to bring in.

I reckon the Blues boys wouldn't look out of place, and Rayasi could be lethal as well.

Fiji didn't pick him up in their June test squad- maybe we can convince him his future lies with NZ

Jordan, Reece, Fainga'anuku, Telea, Tavatavanawai - and that's just one province - we can't possibly have a problem!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Will Jordan wonโ€™t be the last to go down with covid in the camp.
The team that runs on the field Saturday may differ from the team named on Thursday.

Nah, only two players left haven't had Covid before (or now) not much room left for disaster

I think we will be fine, if we cant win with what we have, then we werent gonna win anyway.

Sure, but you don't have to test or isolate for 3 months, so unless they're sick with it, carry on

He came to NZ in 2017 - so should be eligible pretty soon, if he isn't already.

Edit - looks like he is eligible later this year:

@bobily2 Yeah - he was playing club rugby in Marlborough before the Mako picked him up.

A bit like Fetuli Paea - I think they're guys who came to Ta$man to play club rugby, rather than being directly recruited by the Mako.

I stand corrected, seems we have an abundance of talented wings, the only issue is very few of them have the test caps and experience to go with it. Having used Bridge, Jordan, JB on the wings means we have not really blooded or given experience to others.

Lets hope Clarke and LF gets some good minutes this season.
