@shark seriously, George Bridge showed wheels in that game? I honestly just don't recall seeing that. Agree with the rest, Akira didn't have a great game but 2/3 of the loosies didn't...
No, but he has wheels.
Akira didn't have a great game? Ok, I'll give you that, if anonymity interspersed with handling clangers is simply not a great game.

Akira Ioane. I was glowing in my praise for his efforts this year but tempered that with waiting to see how he'd go against SA. My, how he disappointed. Actually, he fucking shit the bed and Mommy has to throw out his sheets and make a brand new bed and hope he learns from it and proves himself in the next test vs SA. If he sharts or even so much as does a little tinkle in the bed this weekend then he too can go and play against the US and Italy with Bridge and stay the fuck away from the games against the big boys.
Yikes

How would you prove it anyway? That's impossible.
Of course we know faking injuries feeds into the Bok game plan of slowing the game down. In fact, faking an injury give them a LONGER breather than simply walking to a lineout.
What would be interesting is for someone to count how many times the Boks go down in games but the "injured" player then continues playing vs how many times this happens for other teams. Perhaps this was just a one-off, but I doubt it.Exactly, it is impossible to prove. But the fact that it "feeds into our plan" doesn't make it so either. I just think this general line is being overcooked a bit. It started with the Lions tour (where the Bok boring rugby narrative also took hold) and now seems to be something for everyone to bitch about every week. Agree one would need some stats on it to get a real view....I also think the Boks are too negative on tempo and they need to up it. The slow walk everywhere and trudging to the line outs is just too defensive. Get some fucking spring in your step man!
The Boks probably can't stay with us in a speed game. So it is logical that they would try everything to slow and shorten the game. I blame the ref for letting them do it. He was shockingly bad
The ref was fine. Your pommie or Irish origins are shining thru there.
I don't blame the ref for letting them do it. He doesn't have the tools to stop them with regard to injury feigning.. I do blame him for not allowing the ABs the ability to play their preferred way when they have won the right though.
As mentioned earlier he didn't allow quick taps, didn't enforce the 'hurry up' messaging, walked to the mark after an advantage....
He was very quick to try and stamp his authority on other aspects of the play eg no warning for closing space while a lineout was being set up. Pinging Moody for repositioning his feet for stability. Why couldn't he stamp his mark for delaying tactics at the set piece.
The AB leaders need to more onto it as well. Keep showing that you want to play quickly by being ready at lineouts, make sure you are last to stand up at scrum setups, take taps then when called back make the point that the ref needs to be quicker.....Because the ref wanted the breather too! Anyway surely he can just whistle time on and play on? Used to happen fairly often in club games, is it different at 1st class?

I love how you twist and insert words mate. I'd said in an earlier post of two botched catches, one may have been more difficult than it looked but the other was inexcusable. But he actually did have dominant tackles in that game if you bothered looking..
Edit: Bridge may have wheels, but they'd be training ones. The only time he has shown a clean pair of heels is when he goes straight down in contact. This year. Possibly still injured. But wheels? I guess as far as the Boks are concerned, sure. Meals on Wheels.

Might have been his best game in black. He did everything that was asked of him and more, without the brain farts that have plagued him in the past

@kiwimurph this is brill, thanks, I was just wondering what % of their kicks were successful, probably best though not to look at the % for Bridge...

What did I twist, or insert? Did I mis-quote you or something? You might need to explain what you're insinuating here, because I've only made my own observations. Making up shit like that only serves to distract from the debate.

@shark get a grip. Two posts on diff threads of excessive hyperbole on our so far POTY after a poor match.
Wow, seven likes from the Akira Ioane brigade.
For the record, I'm hopeful he can make up for that effort this weekend. If he does, he has that 6 jumper for life. If not, I will wait with bated breath to see how many of you are willing to accept he might not be up to it.

While I don't think Saturday Nights game will decide either way if he is the future, after last weeks performance there were a lot of people saying that the bully was put in his place and was made to sit in the corner.
Maybe he will always be prefaced with 'Flat track....'

Cool. I'm in the 'Brigade'. Do we get badges?

@hooroo I think there were always comments at Super that he used to go missing against the better teams (Crusaders) but he was better this year.
TBF I think the occasion possibly got the better of a number of players, the history, first time facing our old foe, thier tactics.
I expect several players performances will ratchet up this weekend after a 'disappointing' win.

Can’t speak on behalf of others but I have complete agreement with you on above.
I personally thought calling him a fuckwit on one thread then jumping to another to write something equally as derisory poor form so I called you out on it.
He’s played so well this year he’s earned his crap game. Now let’s see if he can redeem.

I'm going to allow myself a farking great portion of smug satisfaction. His class was always there but for whatever reason some were willing to write him off age 19. It just goes to show that players mature, develop and improve. Writing anyone off that young is simply idiotic.
It's particularly ironic that of the 2 players who were written off as "shit" very young, one is now the captain and the other played a blinder and saved the game last week.
He always showed moments of class. But for some reason he never got the ups that others did. Even as early as his cameo in the last Lions series, when he set up the bus only for him to drop it cold, seemed to go unappreciated. He's been consistently very good in the Canes side for several years. Nice to see him changing opinions, hopefully he has another big game this weekend

Now do Bridge!
And further to those stats, some of the kicks Jordie was attempting to cover should have been Bridge's but he was having to try and cover anything he thought he could get to as Bridge was an absolute liability.

The only justification for Bridge being selected is him being a "safe" player, i.e what he lacks in size or pace or skill he makes up with a very low error rate and exceptional option taking. So he has almost zero scope for effing up because not effing up is essentially the only thing he brings to the table. IMHO Jordan was just as bad but he at least offers that incredible speed and a very underrated kicking game.
