Red means get rid of it. Yellow means cull some events, namely anything synchronised or where medals exist for doing the same distance slower...
Note: Events kept doesn't mean I like them.
Not trying to shit stir. What is your policy on weight classes? Should there be the different divisions for the combat sports and weightlifting?
I can be swayed either way if I'm honest. Otherwise for a lot of events (namely fighting and weightlifting) if you're not huge you can't attend. In much the same way that we have a female class and special Olympics.
On the flip side, I don't see why you should get a chance just because you're a jockey. Pick another sport type of situation.
In much the same way I'm becoming ambivalent about doping. In accepting the reality part of me wants to see people run 100m in seven seconds, or jump 10m in long jump. The Super Mutant Games.
I guess there are genuine safety concerns in the combat sports. The throwing sports don’t have weight classes so I guess there’s an argument not to have them for lifting events. Ultimately in most sports you just have to accept your genetic limitations. There’s no basketball class for short white dudes.
There are a stupid number of sports but that’s not a huge issue. Just enjoy the ones you like and ignore the ones you hate. Unless of course you’re @mariner4life and you choose to live in a tropic swamp with dialup internet. Then you deservedly eat a bag of dicks.

I thought that was 3x3?

There's a mixed relay in the athletics too. 4 x 400.
Stupid. A woke participation event from the same IOC that can't decide women shouldn't compete against men.

No idea. I chose to ignore it. @mariner4life can’t because he only has Channel 7 jungle access.

Poland just won the 4x400m. Poland.

While I was waiting for it to buffer 3 more meaningless swimming medals were given out
That 4x400 mixed run was fucking dumb
The Olympics is a bloated corporate shit show

If only there was an app you could use to just watch your favourite sports and ignore the others.

Actually one sport that shouldn’t be there is men’s soccer. It’s the Olympics not a youth tournament. If the best players can’t be there then don’t have it.

There's a good argument that professionals shouldn't attend. If your sport has a professional league, bad luck.

Why is that a good argument? Isn't the Olympics supposed to be the best of the best? Why would forming a professional league to help athletes live, improve, survive, in between Olympics rule those athletes out?
-
If the Olympics isn't the pinnacle fuck it off
That instantly rules out a lot

I don’t mind professionals attending as long as this award is the premier award.
No golf, tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball. More too but those are the obvious ones.

I think that’s why the Olympics should also reduce relays and other shit. It just helps the Rich (and same) countries.

Exactly. And for a lot of them it's nothing like. Soccer, golf, basketball, baseball, tennis...

Sure. Doesn't mean that ruling professionals out is the answer. Most of these athletes are pros now

I don't understand why the 100m running would be an event in this new stripped down Olympics. It is just cycling but slower.
I dunno, from a standing start I’d back Usain Bolt

True but it's no obvious that it would be over 100m. The metric system wasn't around in ancient Greece so it would need to be over some other arbitrary distance.
