What a game to showcase the difference between Savea and Rayasi. Knowledge Vs raw talent. Great to see Jules showing his experience, Rayasi not so great but geez so much potential if he can look like he's played rugby before.
The rough edges have been obvious in his 3 seasons at Auckland. Doesn't matter so much at NPC level.
Signing with the Canes hasn't worked out for him. He needed game time to refine his game and he's barely played until this year.
He should've had this sort of season back in 2019. He shouldn't still be getting described as a 'raw talent' in his 3rd year of pro rugby.Absolutely this.
Funnily enough, with a 'Senior' wing to learn from (whilst getting game time), the Canes might be the right place now with Jules back.

Not the first time. Maybe just bad luck or he needs to work on his technique
They will also cross their fingers for a positive medical report on 20-year-old first five-eighth Ruben Love, who was stretchered off in just the third minute after lying prone with a suspected neck injury.
Host broadcaster Stan Sport reported Love was taken by ambulance to hospital, but was sitting up and talking and his vital movements were fine.

Has anyone heard anymore about Ruben Love's condition from Friday night? Hopefully, it was all just precautionary.

@frank he does but I've warmed to the Aussie approach. Mehrts makes it clear that no one in the com box is taking themselves too seriously. Nice for a change from the kiwi way.
Oh and great to hear "Flanders" pronounced as it should be 😁
A bit of levity and mirth is good

Not sure what to make of his latest instagram post:
In the comments, everyone is wishing him a speedy recovery, so my guess is he'll be out for a while.

@stargazer I guess the next cab off the rank is either TJ or Aiden Morgan.

The Canes centre Aso, has to be one of the least appreciated players in NZ I reckon. He is a real solid player and would be playing every game if he moved to the Clan

Y'all are whinging about the quality but...
That 90m try the Waratahs scored that started with a ridiculous chip kick on the 10m line and included at least one "chuck and hope" pass was good as any you will see on any rugby field

A few Tahs fans have remarked that, after the season we've had, it was the most entertaining game they've seen in ages.
If the ABs scored that, the forum would have gargled to death on its collective spooge.

If the ABs scored that against a second iter nation, no we wouldn't. And both those teams were well below second tier defence
Second tier amateur defence, let alone pro!

It is cute you think that.
I'm reminded of the default NZ Rugby fan when the ABs get outplayed: "You weren't that good - we just played like shit!"
-
@nta Generally that's true but after the pommelling by the Poms in Japan we at least acknowledged that we were completely and utterly outplayed all over the park. It was prefaced though by the scorn thrown at the selectors by some of their stupid selections for that particular game!!!!!!!

So if both teams are ‘amateur’ and ‘second tier’ doesn’t it still make it a brilliant try?
I thought it was an awesome try.
I went to watch the Rebels v Tahs earlier in the year and the Tahs attack was absolutely abysmal, so the weekends game was a marked improvement.

It's odd that you see a fun end-to-end 90m try and your reaction is to be angry about the standard of defence. What's the point of watching if you can't crack a smile at a play like that?
Yeah the tackling from both teams was questionable, but I enjoyed watching that game. I wouldn't want it every week but as a Tahs fan it was just nice to see them score a few tries.
