Cricket 2021: NZ in England and WTC Final
-
The weather forecast for day two of the WTC final between India and New Zealand looks slightly more promising than day one.
"Saturday 19th looks largely dry for Southampton," said a spokesperson for the UK Met department. "But there is a strong signal for heavy rain on Sunday and Monday. The rain wonβt be continuous, but most areas will probably see heavy rain at times during the two days."
Just found some talk that India can and might change their team and swap a spinner for a bat.

@crucial Team isn't final until 30 minutes before the toss, so even if announced, it can be changed.
The rule should be changed so that the team is named after the toss. That would make it less of an advantage to win the toss.

I like that. Much less of a lottery.

Right call with CDG over Patel. Going with 4 seamers would have been ballsy, probably the right move to pick an allrounder. CDG better score some runs though.
If the weather had not develpped as it had, I would have still gone with Patel, but...losing the first day to steady rain means the pitch shouldn't turn anywhere near as much as it would normally (BTW - the Rosebowl pitch may be the most spinner-friendly pitch in England, but that's not actually that much - remember most FC cricket now is played in May not this late in June so the vast majority of pitches are underprepared seamers that assist the Bowlers - sort of like the old way we prepared pitches in NZ before we went to the Paramahoe soil as the default pitch makeup
-
Well, we've had better preparation than India and have won the toss, so we can't have too many excuses - apart from the weather.
Happy with the team - on paper it's a strong batting line-up and we've got guys who can hold a bat in the tail.
We don't have a spinner - sobeit!

Anyone else waiting for the live stream to start on Spark? They have the rights I hope!!
