All Blacks 2021

@kiwimurph you'd think (hope) the likes of Taylor and Smith will have relatively light workloads in this series

The fern (and public) view of Akira is mind-boggling. Sure he had some games where he looked lazy two years ago, maybe a year ago. But to say he wasn't more than decent for the ABs last year (or this final) is bizarre
This kind of thing is almost up there with FDS though. Who is saying that?

@nepia never said his performances in the black jersey we'rent lacking, although i still think he done better than the fail mark a lot seem to give him, have made it quite clear Akira proved last year he deserves a run of games to see if he can make it is own
was just meaning it seems like Akria gets a lot of support because people are so anti frizell and they need to make it quite clear who is better than him
TBH I don’t think they’re necessarily always linked. Akira gets a lot of support because the anti Akira crowd just came up with bullshit reasons for not liking him and changed the goalpost when the reasons were shown to be hookum.
-
I'd like Akira to get a decent run of games against decent teams to see if he is actually good. At this stage I don't think any of us can know for sure. Given no one has made the 6 jersey their own he deserves the same opportunities that others have had. He is definitely good enough for that.

@bones it was some poster in this thread I think. I'm saving the civilized world on another forum but if I have time I'll find it for you.
Good luck finding it...
-
@crazy-horse yep as I think he has gone missing in some games previously (when up against quality opposition) although has been a bit more consistent of late, certainly has the chance to claim the jersey for himself though.

you are right, perhaps the meds are working, perhaps it was in the Blues thread perhaps on another tab (NZHerald or Stuff) but I can't find it. I recall clear as day, today, reading someone saying that Akira wasn't good for the ABs and I thought one poster here indirectly responded to it. But now I can't find it. Maybe I have just reached peak madness.
Yeah maybe it was poster Blair065 on stuff, I have impugned innocent Ferners, my bad!

@nostrildamus fuck you Blair!

Probably the best offer Blair has had in some time. I don't think he/she/they is/are the only one, there is a recent article that the AB 6 position has still not been solved and they haven't found anyone since ... Liam Squire? (I don't know, won't pay to see) ...
I'd need to go back to the tests but I recall Akira being a fairly dominant 6 in those last few tests.. and when compared to the AB career of Liam Squire...
-
@nostrildamus I'd venture to say, whilst it was a good outing, they might view "solved" as being more than 2 tests. So we'd be looking for it to be solved this season.
-
I would agree that the AB's 6 is far from solved, Akira has earned his turn to make it his own but he hasn't done it yet, fingers crossed

@arhs Bidwell is one of the worst Journos in NZ. I try and stay well clear of anything he has to say.
I second this. Bidwell is horrendous.

Speaking of NZ journalism....
Tupaea, standing at 1.86 metres and weighing 96 kilograms, will bring a rigorous force to the 12 jumper that has not been seen in an All Blacks side since the days of Ma'a Nonu.
Without wanting to turn this into an Ardie - height joke fest. a quick google tells me Havili, Goodhue and ALB are all basically the same size as Tupaea.
I remember getting annoyed in 2013 when they compared Francis Sai'ili to Ma'a Nonu. Some things don't change. Just like "the next Jonah" or "the next Kaino/Collins" etc ....

@bovidae Goodhue has been tipping the ton for a while too, Rieko is probably the heaviest?
Mind you this article is soooooo last year
