@bones yeah he did, Ioane as better bench player AND better in the starting position.
That's an answer to a question that wasn't asked, reading helps π
I'm still waiting to hear how someone can prove themselves by not playing.
Keith Robinson built a career and a legend on his lengthy and frequent absences.

Well yeah but he put Robin Brooke on his arse and was from The Aroha.

So off the back of SRA and considering injuries, I'm thinking I'd like to see given a go:
Frizzel
Papalii
JacobsonWith Ioane on the bench maybe. But then again Blackadder and Sanders have really put their hands up and of course there's Robinson...
I'd have Akira Ioane as a starter.
He's the incumbent.
Frizzel has to win back the spot by proving himself at international level, not just Super level. How does one prove oneself by not playing? Interesting he's the incumbent on one game, guess Jordie is a shoe in for the wing!
Ioane is the much better bench player.
*> > You're half right.
Ioane is the much better bench player AND starter.*
Frizzel has had good Super rugby seasons and consistently failed to take the step up.
Ioane played great in both of his games for the ABs 2 from 2.
Frizzel is the one with something to prove at international level.> Hang on, I'm half wrong? Which bit?
You didn't answer the question.
Ok not question then, it was the question marks that fooled me.

@nostrildamus you ok hun?

If we look at this and think about where we'd be with SL if we had such a result, what do we imagine is likely to happen?

The top two lines are where the value is supposed to go up - who knows. I have no idea if this is A) a good idea or going to happen. I just know NZ rugby needs some cash!

@taniwharugby thank god for the hyphen, the 9 stock is looking a little bare.
The NZ Herald article starts "All Blacks superstar TJ Perenara"
Perhaps they are alluding to his contracted fee...
Um. I like him actually, but as a player, AB superstar?

LF has to be in with a shot I reckon. Covers midfield and wing and brings Polynesian power. Heβs been very impressive in recent games.
-
@billy-tell yeah Ennor isn't poly is he so probably doesn't have poly power. Surely you can buy that at Langu's Island Styles though.
Leicester and Rieko I'm happy to have in the squad to cover wing/13 with Havili and ALB as the starters. Nankivell bubbling under maybe. Ennor playing NPC.

I rate ennor but he needs game time. NPC is perfect can come back next season

An absolute plethora of backrow talent available right now. Even with Cane and Savea injured.
I'd love to see Jacobson, Papali'i and Blackadder in the same backrow.
Incredible that the likes of Frizzell, Ioane, Grace or Sotutu could miss out on a 23

My question at present is whether the selectors can continue to dismiss the Bosh.
When you think that they selected Kirifi ahead of him it doesn't fill you with hope.To be fair to Kirifi, he was playing very well last year for both the Canes and Wellington. This year he has been ineffective and poor.
Boshier is definitely more noticeable as a ball-carrier, which was the work-on for him.
-
I can't believe so many exciting 8s have appeared, it was looking pretty bare a few years ago.
6 Frizzell, Ioane, Blackadder, Jacobson(?)** Grace or Robinson?*
At 7 is it a fight between Papali'i and Boshier? Both 6s/7s, Dalton offers perhaps more taking on the line (slightly taller, nuch heavier) and at lineout? I kind of like Boshier, though, offers something a little different.
8 Jacobson vs Sotutu? (Possibly not Ioane?)*Not sure if young Cullen Grace is a contender 6/8? or Robinson..
**Jacobson now seen as more an 8?I'm sure I have forgotten someone. Talk about a blindside logjam..

Lots of backrow guys going to miss the squad.
I reckon there's potentially a dozen in the frame, but probably only seven will get picked.
Frizell
Ioane
Robinson
Blackadder
GraceSotutu
JacobsonSavea
Papali'i
Boshier
Kirifi
HarmonAnd Cane in the wings.
-
Robinson is an interesting one, at 1.98m, think he can genuinely play that 6/lock role
Jacobson 8/6 (werent his 2 tests at 6?)
Dalton 7/6
Akira 8/6
Savea 7,8,6
Cane 7/6.5PLus several others, we are pretty flush with candidates
Rest are probably more specialists?
-
@nostrildamus Probably a year too soon, but I fully expect Flanders to be in the mix before the RWC (as an 8, who can play 6). I'd like them to bring in a few non-playing apprentices for the July Internationals like they've done in the past, and Flanders would be one of the prime candidates IMO.
